Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is a charming, quick, light read for when you’re in that contemporary kind of mood. You can very easily read it in one sitting to cleanse the palate. Obviously, looking at the title, this book is really romance-centric. Oliver is so absolutely charming. The dialogue between him and Hadley is really pleasant and adorable. There were some super touching moments, and my heart melted just a bit at the end. And I mean, I read the whole thing picturing Oliver as this guy, adorable accent included. How can you go wrong? Julian Morris Overall there’s not much […]

Book Review: Boundless by Cynthia Hand

Book Review: Boundless by Cynthia Hand

The biggest challenge, in writing this review, is to not spoil anything. But I am trying my hardest. Boundless is an action-packed, stunning ending to a beautiful series. Questions are finally answered, the mythology becomes an intricate, beautiful web, characters grow (sometimes together, sometimes apart), heart strings are pulled, and finally the curtain falls. Clara going off to college brings quite a change. Understandably, the cast of secondary characters I grew so fond of in Hallowed was no longer present. However, Clara once again shows tremendous growth and becomes even stronger than she was in Hallowed. Logical, I suppose, but I really like how in […]

Book Review: Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Book Review: Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

WOAH. While I definitely liked Unearthly, with the amount of gushing I heard about this series, I was still a bit underwhelmed. While Unearthly presented us with a beautiful angel concept, irresistible romance, and interesting plot, Hallowed does it SO MUCH BETTER. It’s actually happening… I’m liking a sequel, not to mention a MIDDLE BOOK, better than the original. (It’s not that this hasn’t happened before, but still.) Where to begin? In terms of world building (I suppose), the mythology becomes much richer in this installment. FINALLY some answers to those pressing questions about the angels and the Black Wings. While certainly not everything is […]

Book Review: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Book Review: Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

I always tend to say that paranormal romance isn’t my thing. Typically, I get more annoyed than pleased. I might need to specify that apparently there’s an exception on angel stories. Out of three angel series I’ve read, I seriously love all three of them. Unearthly is one of them. I love the idea and concept of Cynthia Hand’s angels. They are born with a divine purpose, and should they stray from the path, God only knows what will happen (ha, get it? get it? God only– yeah, you get it). For some reason I really love that theme of fate, life being pre-ordained, that […]

Book Review: Everbound by Brodi Ashton

Book Review: Everbound by Brodi Ashton

Let me take you through my immediate reactions during the last 10 pages and after finishing this book. “NOOOOOOOOOO!!!” “You just… I don’t…” “I can’t even…” “I don’t know… I just don’t know…” I’m pretty much still in that state. I am literally fighting the urge to just pull my knees up to my chest and slowly rock back and forth, because that is what this book has done to me, and to have to wait another year for the series’s conclusion is unthinkable. Considering the trend I’ve recently gone through with sequels (particularly middle books) not living up to their predecessors I’m so glad […]

Book Review: Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

Book Review: Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

I need to get one thing out of the way real quick. You see, this was one of my most anticipated books of 2012. At a certain point, you just couldn’t get me to shut up about it anymore. And yes, I finally read it in January 2013. You see, this thing happened. I knew this book would be amazing. But I knew it was not necessarily an easy read. When I finally had the book in my hands (it looks freaking AMAZING by the way) I was under so much pressure from grad school, what with exams, thesis proposal, group projects, more exams, committee […]

Book Haul #3: The Christmas One

Book Haul #3: The Christmas One

My book hauls are by no means an accurate representation of the books I actually get, because, well, I read a lot of e-books, but I think it’s more fun to see physical copies in a post like this. And I don’t get too many physical copies, so I think I’ll do one of these per month instead of per week. I DIGRESS. Christmas got me a LOT of books. I have TWELVE books to share. Gifts The Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsI had a paperback set but just had to get the hardcovers at some point. Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica RothI had ebooks, […]
