Book Haul #3: The Christmas One

Posted January 19, 2013 by Debby in Book Hauls / 38 Comments

My book hauls are by no means an accurate representation of the books I actually get, because, well, I read a lot of e-books, but I think it’s more fun to see physical copies in a post like this. And I don’t get too many physical copies, so I think I’ll do one of these per month instead of per week. I DIGRESS. Christmas got me a LOT of books. I have TWELVE books to share.

Gifts

  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I had a paperback set but just had to get the hardcovers at some point.
  • Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth
I had ebooks, but I think this is a series I’ll be keeping for life.
  • Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
Had a paperback, but it’s one of my favorite books ever, so yeah.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
I’ve actually never read it *hides* but also, this is the Barnes & Noble leatherbound classic edition and it’s so freaking beautiful, I had to have it.
  • Discord’s Apple by Carrie Vaughn
I’d never heard of it! Haven’t read it! But it’s on my list now.
  • Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My mom went to the release party in Houston for me and brought me back a signed copy πŸ˜€ (review)
  • Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Had to complete my collection, so now I can completely power through this series.
  • Angelfall by Susan Ee
I kept hearing great things about this one, so I had to have it. And I was right. It was epic (review).

Won

While I was in Texas, I heard I’d won an ARC of Asunder by Jodi Meadows from Epic Reads. It’s my second ever ARC! And it has such a beautiful cover, I mean seriously.

I already read it though. Sadly, to me, the contents were not as pretty as the cover. (Review!)

    • Yeah, in the Netherlands, where I live, they also primarily deal in paperbacks, so I always stock up on hardcovers when I’m in the states. The THG hardbacks are so amazingly beautiful though… I just want to hug them all day! xD

      Thanks for following! πŸ™‚

    • Aww, thanks! They are really really beautiful. You can always upgrade? Haha, I now have the hardbacks to sit on my shelf forever and paperbacks to lend out to people, when I force them to read the series, muwahahaa.

  1. I also buy hardcovers of very favorites. These are keepers that I don’t let anyone touch, they sit in a pretty glass case and I longingly look at them and stroke their pretty covers…uhm.
    πŸ˜€ Awesome stack. Happy reading!
    Here is my StS post.

    • Hahahaha, I totally can relate. I thought about now giving away my paperback set, but keeping it as the set to lend out sounds like a much better idea.

      Thanks! πŸ™‚

  2. Awesome haul! Yay for Opal and Deity πŸ˜€ Love them so much. And I want the Divergent and Insurgent box set so badly, so lucky you πŸ˜‰
The Narnia leatherbound is so pretty! I own the book, but I really want this one now πŸ˜›
    Happy reading!

    • Aww, thanks πŸ™‚

Yeah, I discovered the B&N leatherbound classics series a year and a half ago, and DAMN it’s just awesome and such a great idea. Now I have 12 of them. Bahahaha.

  3. I have heard a lot of great things about Angelfall too. I need to follow in your footsteps and just go buy or get it from the library already. Nice haul, lots of “classics” πŸ˜€

    • Yes yes!! Just buy it. I mean, the paperback from Amazon is only $7. That’s nothing! And it’s totally worth it. Thanks πŸ™‚

    • Aww thanks πŸ™‚ I’m still a bit torn on the series, to be honest, because I did really like the first one, but Asunder let me down, kind of..

  4. I have Angelfall on my TBR. I’m going to read it in the Very.Near.Future. Like in the next week or so. I can’t wait! I think I even got it either on sale or free too.

I have such bookenvy. You got a signed copy of Opal. Gah. πŸ™‚

    My STS post

    Happy Reading!

    • Yes yes yes!! Read it ASAP πŸ™‚ It’s so great. And yeah, even if it’s not on sale, it’s $7 for paperback on Amazon… I just can’t even comprehend why people aren’t reading it immediately.

Awww sorry πŸ™ All my JLA books except Deity are signed, heeheehee *cough* this is mean. Shut up, Debby.

      Thanks! πŸ™‚

    • Yay! Definitely check out Angelfall, I mean, it’s only $7 or so on Amazon for paperback, and it’s worth way more than that. Thanks πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, I just had to have Narnia even though I haven’t read it yet. Those leatherbound books from B&N are just amazingly beautiful. I have 12 of them now, hahaa.

      Thanks πŸ™‚

  5. Divergent <3 One of my favourite books of all time! Can you believe it that I still haven't read Insurgent?! Crazy, I know x_x

I haven’t read the Hunger Games trilogy, I tried reading book one once, but I couldn’t get into it and didn’t finish it, I am going to try and read it again though! πŸ™‚

Amazing haul! And new GFC follower πŸ™‚

    • There are different Divergent covers in the UK? OH YEAH, I remember those. Yeah, I really don’t like those, they’re SO different, it’s just weird.

      Thanks for following πŸ™‚

  6. Extremely jealous of your Asunder ARC! Can’t wait to read your review, though I have the sneaking suspicion it will be AMAZING like Incarnate!! Wow. Also, I’ve had Insurgent for a while, just have to make time to read it!

    • Aww. I actually already finished it and my review is up here. I wasn’t quite blown away… sorry!

Insurgent is another example of a sequel that I don’t really like… Sigh, I’m so picky.

      Thanks for following πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, I just purchase hard copies of the books I really really love, so I can show them off when people come to visit. I hate having too many books, though that sounds weird.
