This is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking the Spine, spotlighting upcoming releases that we’re anticipating.

Title: September Girls
Author: Bennett Madison
Release Date: May 21st, 2013
Publisher: HarperTeen (HarperCollins)
Pages: 352

When Sam’s dad whisks him and his brother off to a remote beach town for the summer, he’s all for it– at first. Sam soon realizes, though, that this place is anything but ordinary. Time seems to slow down around here, and everywhere he looks, there are beautiful blond girls. Girls who seem inexplicably drawn to him.

Then Sam meets DeeDee, one of the Girls, and she’s different from the others. Just as he starts to fall for her, she pulls away, leaving him more confused than ever. He knows that if he’s going to get her back, he’ll have to uncover the secret of this beach and the girls who live here. Goodreads

I have a soft spot for mermaids. When I was younger I read the Water series by Kara Dalkey and I just loved it. It was one of the few series that I really, really liked. Since then I haven’t really read any mermaid books, but this one sounds really nice. And that cover. Whoa. Since I have this from Edelweiss, I should be getting around to it soon.

  1. I think I might have seen this before, but never actually read the summary. I don’t think I’ve ever read a mermaid book either. I’m definitely intrigued.

    • Yeah, I don’t think there are that many mermaid books, and the few I do know of don’t have the best reputation… so I can’t wait to read this one. I hope it lives up to my high hopes 🙂

  2. Agreed, that cover is awesome!! I’m still so-so on mermaid books… I’ve read Of Poseidon and really enjoyed it but for some reason I’m still scared. This one looks so good though!!

    • Isn’t it though? I want there to be more covers like this.. Just amazing. Wow, I’ve actually heard really negative things about Of Poseidon, so I decided to stay away from that one. I hope this one is good though 🙂 Really curious!

  3. I was going to pick this for my WoW at first, until I saw Just One Year. 😛
Anyway, I can’t wait to read this too, especially since it’s told from a guy’s point of view. I’m really curious on how that will turn out.

    • Haha, makes sense. I figured I still have so much time to promote Just One Year, so I’ll get around to it later xD

Yay! I hope you like it! 🙂

  4. I’m starting this soon! Looking forward to it. I’ve had pretty good luck with mermaids in my blogging experience. Have you read Monstrous Beauty? Fantastic mermaid novel.

    • Awesome! I’ll be curious to hear what you think of it 🙂 I’ve never heard of Monstrous Beauty actually! I’m going to go look it up now 🙂 Thanks!

  5. Hah I was going to say that I want to uncover the secret of the beach and the girls who live there but taking note of Blythe’s comment above I guess that secret is mermaids :). I haven’t read anything of the sort but it does sound like it could be interesting! Thanks for sharing!
