August 2013: the month of CRAZY…

In August, I became a massive fail. I read a total of 5 books and posted 5 reviews & 1 discussion. … Yeah, I don’t even have a really great excuse. Wait, you know what, working full time is a great excuse. *pouts* I’ve just reached the point of feeling overwhelmed, so I need to take a step backward for a while. Sorry 🙁

Monthly Book Haul + Get to Know Me Vlog

Please excuse the lame attempts to be funny and the excessive use of cutting. I’m going to pretend
I’m not a total n00b and skillfully blame this on me being sick at the time. Because yeah.

My (few) ratings have ALL been positive. Yay! To be honest, since it’s also been a tough month, I’ve consciously been choosing books I pretty much knew I would like so that reading would at least not get me down. So the average rating for this month was 4.1. YAY.

Non-Bookish Obsessions

  • Sara Bareilles’s new album: The Blessed Unrest.
  • Also, I did not have time for obsessions this month.
  • I know.
  • I’m such a fail.
  • My sincerest apologies.

    In Real Life

    • THE NEIL GAIMAN THING. I just need to reiterate this because it made my month, my year, possibly my life. I mean, blog traffic exploded, I was mentioned by a newspaper, Neil Gaiman himself tweeted me and retweeted my post, before ultimately remembering me when I met him… Just. Amazing. (And then of course, the man himself. Freaking awesome.)
    • I made a Snuggly Oranges t-shirt. Which I then unveiled at the Book Blogger Picnic. Anyway, I did this at my aunt’s workshop on the art of Batik. Pretty cool huh?
    • I turned 22. HEY! I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I’M FEELING 22!
    • My cousin got married! I went to a wedding for the first time ever.
    • The Amsterdam Book Blogger Picnic! August 24th, I finally met some more book bloggers: Daisy, Celine, Vicky, Kat, and Lauren. Okay, and Judith, but I already knew her 😛 After a nice picnic and some book shopping (where I got recognized by the store clerks because of my Snuggly Oranges t-shirt, mihihihihi), Daisy, Judith, and I went to the hot mess that is Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. We yelled and cried about the awful together and then drank away our sorrows. It’s a really bad movie guys. Seriously. Ugh, I’m about to start crying again.
