Is it that time again? Let’s look back at my Fall TBR… Hmm. 6/10. Ouch. Mood reading definitely took over this season. Anyway. Hopefully I can do better this time. I’m still waiting to, one of these days, get 10 out of 10. *is a bit of an optimist*

Split Second Evertrue The House of Hades These Broken Stars Howl's Moving Castle

1. Split Second by Kasie West
Remind me to pre-order this about.. yesterday. Um, obviously, knowing my undying love for Pivot Point, Split Second is at the absolute top of my TBR. I must have this. I must read it. I will devour it. I will drop everything for this book.

2. Evertrue by Brodi Ashton
This is a very very close second to Split Second. I absolutely adore this series and the ending will kill me. I know this. I like torturing myself, obviously.

3. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan
This was on my Fall TBR, and it tears me up inside that I didn’t read it yet. I kind of feel guilty, but I’m also blaming TBD for this, because they lost my pre-order, so I ended up getting it a full month after its release… By that time, I had so many other books I had to read, so… it kept getting delayed. But I hope to read this on or around Christmas. Sounds like the perfect treat for me 🙂

4. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Yeah, the reviews have been fabulous, but I don’t even put too much stock in that, because the cover is gorgeous, I have it pre-ordered, and I know I will love it. So. Yeah.

5. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
This is our December book club pick! Finally one that’s relatively short, hahaha. But I’ve been meaning to read this sometime, so I was stoked when Daph suggested it. I absolutely love the animated movie, after all.

The 5th Wave Girl Who Circumnavigated Gilt Looking for Alaska The Promise of Amazing

6. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
This is our January book club pick! I’m really happy about that, to be honest, because it’s one of those chunkier books that I need some extra motivation to pick up. And this was a birthday present from one of my best friends, and I always feel bad if I don’t read the books I get as presents soon. I dunno. It’s one of my quirks.

7. The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente
For some reason it seems like the perfect season to get into this cute little series. I have all three on hand, so I might binge read them. The books are just so pretty! And reviews are promising about the series.

8. Gilt by Katherine Longshore
When I visited London, I went to Hampton Court Palace, and, of course, I’m totally obsessed with the CW’s new series, Reign. So at Hampton Court, I totally felt a burning need to get into historical fiction. This was one of the highest recommended series. So I’m very very excited! Definitely want to read this soon.

9. Looking for Alaska by John Green
I borrowed this book from Judith a while back and I feel like I need to return it in a timely fashion, haha. So hopefully I’ll read it this month, before our book club meeting and otherwise in January. You will get it back soon, Judith! I promise!

10. The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine
Yep, I just hauled this last week, so I need to read it before its release at the end of this month!

What books are on your list?

  1. I’ve been seeing These Broken Stars on a lot of TTT lists today. It’s on my list as well. I know good things have been said about it. Can’t wait to get around to reading it!

  2. I think Lyn and I will be doing Howl’s Moving Castle for Forgotten Fridays coming up soon. She really wants to read it and I think I will probably like it also. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on These Broken Stars! Truly. I think you probably will love it. I HOPE you do.

  3. Hi there,

I recognise two titles from your list – Looking for Alaska and Howl’s Moving Castle. I have yet to read Looking for Alaska but I have the book waiting! 🙂

My list consists of old books too.

    My TTT.

    Josette

  4. These Broken Stars is AMAZING. Loved that book a LOT.

I also haven’t had a chance to read House of Hades! Thank YOU for reminding me. It’ll be perfect for curling up on the sofa with after a big Christmas dinner.

Also, 6/10 is so much better than my 3!

  5. The Promise of Amazing turned out to be just average for me but I hope it deliver to you all the swoony and warm feels that cover and summary promises.
And I will hopefully have time to read
These Broken Stars since everyone says it’s awesome…
    Great list. 🙂

  6. Morgan

I’m really excited to read These Broken Stars too!!! Waiting for my package to arrive…. 😀 It sounds like everything I love in a book and plus *that cover!* I’m also excited for Being Sloane Jacobs, Cress, Landry Park, Lady Thief and Cruel Beauty. So many good books, so little time 🙂 I won’t even get into my back catalog haha.

The 5th Wave is EXCELLENT. So much tension and anxiety, and such fantastic characters and premise. It’s one of the best books I read in 2013. I like that it felt plausible, as scary as that is.

I can’t recommend Gilt (and its companion Tarnish) highly enough!! It’s amazing that Katherine Longshore was able to put such a fresh spin on the Tudors but she definitely succeeded. Interesting, flawed characters, meaningful friendships, swoony relationships, and beautiful historical details!! I loved it.

  7. I love books like Gilt! I need to get the 5th wave for our next book club and I also need to read Howl’s moving castle. I want to get my own copies of the fairyland series, because it sounds like something I will loooove.

  8. Meg

You know how I feel about Split Second and Evertrue so I’ll just skip past those. I’m waiting for my copy of These Broken Stars to be delivered (I also reordered based on the cover and blurb before the reviews came in). am kind of nervous about all the hype. Please let it be as amazing as everyone says.

Loved The 5th Wave, I hope you guys do to! I am interested to see what you think of Looking for Alaska. I had mixed feelings but I’m not sure if it was the book or John Green’s style not being for me. It’s the only one of his I’ve read, so I can’t say.

  9. Split Second, These Broken Stars, and The 5th Wave are all definitely on my TBR as well, and I’m curious to hear more about The Promise of Amazing because THE COVER!

  10. I loved Pivot Point too so I can’t wait for Split Second. And These Broken Stars…I’m actually reading that right now! The Promise of Amazing looks so cute, can’t wait to read. And The 5th Wave…so good, how fun that your book club is reading that. Definitely lots to talk about. Great list!

  11. You have so many good books listed here! I’m also excited for Split Second, Evertrue (well…imagining I will be once I find time to read Everneath & Everbound), and These Broken Stars. I also have been meaning to read Howl’s Moving Castle – I loved Miyazaki’s film as well, although I’ve heard the book is quite different from the film. The 5th Wave is great. And The Girl Who Circumnavigated… made its way onto my list as well this month. It sounds amazing. I hope you’re able to read a good chunk of these books soon!

  12. Dude, I have another copy of LFA. You didn’t have to worry about getting it back to me anytime soon. XD If you like it you can keep it. (I’m curious to see IF you’ll like it, haha.) I started The 5th Wave on vacation but couldn’t finish, so it’s a good thing we’re reading it now. And you will have to text me updates of TBS. I can’t wait to see what you think!!

    • Hahaha, I knowww, but I still want to get it back to you 😛 I would feel bad if it’s sitting on my shelves for months, untouched. We shall see if I like it. I will probably finish tomorrow.

You didn’t text me updates on Cress. So. Hmph. *pouts*
