Top Ten Books I Picked Up Because of the Title

This topic was done back in October 2011, and it’s perfect for me! Seriously, a lot of the time what catches my eye first about a book is the title. Titles can be the deciding factor for me to pick up a book. A lot of the time, they can be quirky and long and immediately give me a sense of the humor that I can expect in the book OR tell me that I’ll be able to relate to it well.

  1. These are some pretty well thought of titles! I don’t normally pick up books just because of the title, but funky, quirky titles usually pique my interest. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is definitely my top interesting title (that I’ve read). But I also love Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless. It’s such an adorable title and the cover’s also adorable and simple. Thanks for sharing, Debby!

  2. I definitely partially picked up The Statistical Probability of Love at First sight because of the title(the other part was the cover!). And Smart Girls Get What They Want as well–what a pleasant idea. And of course, Fangirl! And I love so many of the other titles you’re featuring–like Adorkable and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making(which is on my TBR).

  3. Fun and quirky titles are the best! That had a lot to do with why I read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, Smart Girls Get What They Want, Gamer Girl, and Pizza, Love, and other Things That Made Me Famous! And I would like to read Adorkable, Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! Ooh, I don’t think I’ve heard of it before now, but The Geek Girls Guide to Dating looks darling! Love the list! 🙂

  4. I love this topic, so interesting! I definitely picked up The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight for its title, same with The Duff, Perks, and Adorkable. I’m really hoping to read This Song Will Save Your Life because everyone was raving about it. The title is really interesting too – makes me wonder what the book is about. And I have to say that Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality has a really misleading title, I didn’t really find revenge to be a part of the book at all. And eee, Instructions for a Broken Heart. I loved that book!

I love all your choices! Quirky titles work for me too. I’d definitely be more inclined to read something with a title like The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight over something titled Forever (sorry, bad example :/).

  5. I’m always drawn to a book with a quirky title, especially if they’re long! It’s usually worked out well — I loved The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, This Song Will Save Your Life and The Geek’s Guide to Dating. I also liked Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, and am really looking forward to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! Great idea for a TTT, Debby 🙂
