Every once in a while, I come across a song that fits perfectly with a book I’ve read. In this new feature, I’ll tell you about them! Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi The Books Okay, so I think it’s clear that I have massive amounts of love for the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. Though it’s a series that has some serious flaws that can have some readers running away screaming, it’s a series that is extremely dear to my heart. I just love the narrative voice and how that grows and develops across the three books as the main character, Juliette, grows. […]

When I first saw The Art of Lainey pop up on Edelweiss, I thought it sounded good and cute, but I wasn’t immediately sold. I put it in the back of my head to check out later. THANKFULLY, the author kept me from making the grievous mistake of passing up on the chance to read this early. She emailed me, asking me to review it, saying that she thought I would like it based on books I had loved, like Meant to Be. Oh man. She’s good. She got me right then and there. And she was not wrong. I loved Meant to Be and […]
This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. I like covers. I’m somewhat of a cover whore. So umm I like this topic. So I’m not just giving you 10, I’m giving you 15, and you can just deal with it and absorb the pretty. That’s it for me! Which covers did you choose?
As a time travel geek, I was intrigued by Time Between Us, but at the same time I knew not to expect too much from it. Instead of a heavy sci-fi adventure, I was more expecting a fluffy romantic book, not unlike The Time Traveler’s Wife, which would hopefully give me a punch in the feels. Sadly… That didn’t happen. I enjoyed this read, but I’m not entirely impressed by it. So basically, Anna meets Bennett and, in the vein of a paranormal series, immediately realizes something’s off about him. She does some snooping, of course, and then eventually finds out that Bennett is a […]
I absolutely LOVED Sarah Strohmeyer’s Smart Girls Get What They Want and I liked How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True, so when The Secrets of Lily Graves appeared, I just KNEW I had to read it – regardless of the fact that this was not a fluffy romance but a mystery. Sadly, Strohmeyer’s foray into a new genre didn’t work too well for me. Lily Graves is a murder mystery. Lily’s classmate Erin is found dead. First it is assumed to be a suicide, but quickly it becomes clear that there was foul play involved. Lily is one of the last people who […]
April 2014: The Overload of MEH ARCs Obviously, April on the blog was a slow month, as I took a three week hiatus! It was a good move though, gave me room to breathe and also recover from the kind of blogging slump I was in – and I did manage to make some progress on my thesis. That’s moving along now, and hopefully that means that I’ll be graduating in JUNE. I’m kind of terrified. On the reading front… not a good month for me. So many review copies that just seriously disappointed me. BUT I’m down to three review copies to read before […]
