Top Ten Books On My Summer 2014 TBR List

Top Ten Books On My Summer 2014 TBR List

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. Yes, I have two Top Ten Tuesdays today because I’m catching up on last week’s topic. So don’t forget to check out today’s other post! Anyway, time for another seasonal TBR list. Which means it’s time for me to look back on my spring TBR list. 8/10! Passable, but I was hoping to keep a streak of dominating these TBRs. Oh well, I’m blaming thesis hell, because what else is new? I hope I’ll catch up on Free to Fall and Graceling soon, but in the […]

Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far in 2014

Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far in 2014

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. Before you get all huffy about this being last week’s topic – I did today’s as well. Yeah, TWO top ten lists on one day. So sue me, I love both topics and I had to catch up. I blame thesis hell. Anyway, so far this year I have read 54 books, and SO MANY that I just want to gush about all day. But, for a change, I decided not to cheat on this topic, and really show you my top ten new reads, according […]

Blogging Life May Now Resume!

Blogging Life May Now Resume!

In the early hours of this morning… I submitted my final master thesis. 6/16/2014. 12:08 am. Final page count: 71. Word count: 21,267. This is a most momentous occasion. To be honest, relief has not set in yet, so much as fear has. Because it’s not over, you know, I gotta actually pass and do my defense and all. But at least for the time being I can breathe easier. I can’t make any changes until my coach and co-reader accept me through to the defense (and I do that successfully) or send me off to do revisions and try again in August. And if […]

Book Nerd Problems #21: When Epic Reads Steals Your Book Nerd Problems

Book Nerd Problems #21: When Epic Reads Steals Your Book Nerd Problems

This is a periodic discussion feature here at Snuggly Oranges about the many problems one can run into as a book nerd. #21. When Epic Reads Steals Your Book Nerd Problems So. Some of you might know right away what I’m here to rant about. Others may have clicked, shocked and worried, at the title. “Stealing” may have been an exaggeration, but the sentiment is not. I feel like this series of successful discussion posts has been stolen from me by Epic Reads, who have recently launched a series of quirky videos entitled, you guessed it, “Book Nerd Problems”. I first saw them announce this a couple […]

Book Review: The Falconer by Elizabeth May

Book Review: The Falconer by Elizabeth May

The Falconer is… whoa. Just WHOA. This is a debut? Are you kidding me? I’m addicted, I loved every second, and I want more. First point of love in this beautiful book with its lovely cover is the unstoppably fierce main character, Aileanna. Holy crap do I love Aileanna. She takes badass to a whole new level. She actually toes the line of morality. She kills faeries and actively loves it. I love a good vengeance story, and with her memories of her mother’s brutal and horrible death, it’s understandable where she’s coming from. I sympathized with her and was drawn into her mission. I […]

Monthly Wrap-Up: May 2014

Monthly Wrap-Up: May 2014

May 2014: in which BEAAAAAAAAAAA MAY. MAY. IT’S OVER. IT’S JUNE. I NEED TO HAND IN MY THESIS THIS MONTH. Paaaaaaaaaanic. But no, in all honesty, May was a pretty cool month because BEAAAA. For the rest I was so busy. So so busy. Work kicked it up a notch, and I had way more responsibilities all of a sudden. But I managed. With thesis stress, I barely had any free time tbh, and when I did, I was completely out of energy, to the point where all I could do was watch TV. I gave up on reading A Clash of Kings sadly… so […]

Top Ten Beach Reads

Top Ten Beach Reads

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. If I think about the summer or the beach, right now what I’m thinking is I want light, fluid, fluffy, relatable, and/or romantic contemporary reads. As such, I will compile some titles for you here. I will cover both angles of the topic – recommend books I’ve read to you guys to put in your beach bag, and list some titles I hope to read if I get a beach day myself. Enjoy! Recommended Beach Reads for You On the Fence by Kasie West Meant To […]

ARC Book Review: The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor

ARC Book Review: The Things You Kiss Goodbye by Leslie Connor

I’m going to be upfront with you guys and let you know that I did not have particularly high expectations for this book. I actually traded for this ARC with Mel because she had no interest in reading it, and I thought, why not. I thought it would be an easy-to-read, easily digestible romance. Probably corny. The synopsis was majorly focused on a love triangle, so I thought there would be some melodrama… but this book surprised me in the best way. The Things You Kiss Goodbye is not a particularly happy book. I would argue that the synopsis is not a particularly good one. […]
