Is Twitter Essential For Your Blog?

Is Twitter Essential For Your Blog?

Lately I’ve been wondering about how essential Twitter actually is to blogging. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love Twitter bunches. I really feel like that’s where the community comes to life. So many discussions about so many different topics – Twitter is how I would say I really became friends with many other book bloggers and readers out there. I’ll be the first to say that my social life in reality is not really buzzing with activity, you know, but with Twitter there’s always someone I can talk to – just for fun, book-related or not, or to discuss things that are irritating or […]

Book Review: Eona by Alison Goodman

Book Review: Eona by Alison Goodman

After reading Eon for book club and unanimously loving it, we decided to read Eona as well, so hopefully we could gush more and more about this amazing high fantasy duology. Now, while 3.5 oranges is not a BAD rating and Eona is not a BAD book, this was disappointing to me in several ways… unfortunately. It did not live up to the high expectations instilled in me after its predecessor. But let’s start off with the good: the world building is still absolutely incredible. It’s so carefully crafted with the Japanese and Chinese mythological elements. The magic is layered and extremely intriguing to read […]

Adventures in Audiobooks

Adventures in Audiobooks

– Source At the beginning of the year, I made it my resolution to try out audiobooks. We’re now well into the year, and I can confirm that I LOVE AUDIOBOOKS, SRSLY FOR REALS. I’ve listened to five or so so far, and I’m a total convert. I thought I’d tell you a bit about my observations today for anyone who is considering checking out this format. Pros: I can multitask and thus keep being productive. With an audiobook, my time spent on chores including cleaning, cooking, eating, laundry, grocery shopping, *cough*playing Kim Kardashian: Hollywood*cough*, all become reading time! I was a bit scared beforehand […]

ARC Book Review: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

ARC Book Review: Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Sarah J. Maas delivers again with Heir of Fire, the third installment in a high fantasy series that is turning out to be one of my absolute favorites. At 565 pages, this book is HUGE – but I loved it and almost wish it were longer so I could have stayed in that world. And I know this book hasn’t even been released yet, but can I has the next one plz? I’m only slightly addicted. Heir of Fire is what I’ll fondly call the character and world building installment of the Throne of Glass series, because seriously. Sarah J. Maas steps it up and […]

Top Ten Books People Told Me I MUST Read

Top Ten Books People Told Me I MUST Read

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. They might as well call book bloggers book pushers, right? I mean, we book nerds of the internet get very SHOUTY about all the books everyone HAS TO read because OMG SO AMAZING SO MANY FEELS. Hey, I don’t blame you guys, I’m right there with you. So here are the most high pressure books on my TBR pile. Most are series, because let’s be honest, series are what get people FLAILING AND CAPSING, and there’s the hype cycle for each new release, so the books […]

ARC Book Review: The Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris

ARC Book Review: The Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris

The Fine Art of Pretending was one of the top books on my wishlist for BEA, because with that spectacular premise which contained so many of the things I absolutely love in a contemporary romance and that adorable cover, I knew it would be the right kind of fluffy for me. And I was not disappointed. The Fine Art of Pretending was for me one of those books that just found me at exactly the right time. For all its entertainment value, this book does not carry a majorly significant meaningful message. But Aly struggles with something that I’ve had issues with in high school […]

Audiobook Review: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Audiobook Review: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

At the beginning of the year, I made it one of my resolutions for 2014 to give audiobooks a shot. After discovering that Ready Player One – which I’d already heard plenty of GREAT things about – was narrated by Wil Freaking Wheaton, I decided this would be a great place for me to start. And it was. Great story + great performance = hours of great entertainment. Ready Player One has been raved about, and for good reason. This book will appeal to anyone who enjoys gaming and 80’s pop culture. Basically, it tells the story of Wade Watts, a teenage boy, who participates […]

The Keys to My Heart #6: The ‘Pretty Dress’ Cover

The Keys to My Heart #6: The ‘Pretty Dress’ Cover

This is a periodic discussion feature here at Snuggly Oranges about the bookish things that steal my heart. #6. The ‘Pretty Dress’ Cover Ha HA, you thought this series of posts was dead, didn’t you? Well I just found my list of topic ideas so I can carry on as I wish now. 😛 (So mature.) Anywayyyy – today, I’m talking about the “pretty dress” cover. I KNOW, WHAT A CLICHÉ, amirite? I think everyone in the YA readersphere has complained about this at some point. The thing is, I am one of the most superficial and shallow book collectors out there, so I’m not going to […]
