The Keys To My Heart #9: Banterfluff

The Keys To My Heart #9: Banterfluff

This is a periodic discussion feature here at Snuggly Oranges about the bookish things that steal my heart. #9. Banterfluff If you follow this blog, by now you’ve probably noticed that I am a huge fan of the fluffiest of books. Today, I want to talk about the value of fluffy books (to me) and introduce you to some of my favorite titles so hopefully you can discover and revel in the fluffy as well! The Case For Fluffiness Christina from A Reader of Fictions wrote a post a while back about the fine art of fluff, which I highly suggest that all of you read. I […]

Book Review: William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return by Ian Doescher

Book Review: William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return by Ian Doescher

I have conquered another series! The William Shakespeare’s Star Wars series by Ian Doescher promises a consistent level of quality and fun that is sure to amuse any Star Wars fans. Like it’s prequels, William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return offers impressive writing and a brilliant presentation of a story I already loved. For those who have yet to read anything about this series, please check out my reviews of book 1 and book 2. The fact of the matter is that these books are so constant in their quality, that by now I have little more to add. This is of course only aided […]

Book Review: One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva

Book Review: One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva

After hearing Michael Barakiva speak at the Teen Author Carnival, I was immediately sold. I needed One Man Guy in my life – and my instincts were 100% correct, because this book was laugh-out-loud funny and adorable and just left me with the biggest smile on my face. The great thing about meeting Michael Barakiva in person, and what convinced me to buy his book, was that I’d already gotten a taste of his voice. He has such a great wry sense of humor that is perfect in this book. And the way this blends with the authenticity of the Armenian culture and all the […]

Audiobook Review: Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

Audiobook Review: Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

After a much more enjoyable experience with Frostbite, listening to it on audiobook, I continued on with the series in this format as soon as I could. Now, Shadow Kiss gets a fair amount of hype for being the strongest in the series, which is particularly tied to a heartbreaking, shocking plot twist at the end of the book. Unfortunately for me, that twist was spoiled by an uncivilized human being thing on Goodreads who decided to ALL CAPS their outrage over that twist in their review, without spoiler tags – just two sentences to tell everyone WHAT happened and that they couldn’t believe it. […]

ARC Book Review: Stray by Elissa Sussman

ARC Book Review: Stray by Elissa Sussman

*sigh* Stray is yet another example of a first book in a series that barely scratches the surface and is way underdeveloped in hopes of getting people on the hook for the next installments. When I wasn’t confused about the messy plot and world building, I was mostly just… bored. Stray follows the story of Aislynn, a princess growing up in a world where she is pressured, above all else, to be pure. Women are born with magic (and seen as almost instinctively evil), but are forbidden to use it because it would cause them to “stray” from their Path – basically their goal in […]

Top Ten Books On My Fall 2014 TBR List

Top Ten Books On My Fall 2014 TBR List

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. Another seasonal TBR! I read 8 of the 10 books on my Summer TBR. I was hoping to get through all ten, but review copies kind of stacked up and ruined that idea. Hopefully I’ll catch up on the last two before the end of the year 🙂 Anyway, this fall I’m again swamped with a bunch of ARCs, but a lot of them I am GENUINELY very excited for. Then there’s possibly my most anticipated book of 2014. And there’s a lot of series that […]

ARC Book Review: Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

ARC Book Review: Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

This book is so meta and so cool. And for its 600 pages, it read immensely smoothly and quickly. There’s no book quite like this one, and I definitely enjoyed it. It’s my first but definitely not my last adventure with Scott Westerfeld. Now, Afterworlds is essentially two books in one. On the one hand, we have a contemporary story of an author getting ready to publish her first book. And on the other hand, we have the book that she’s written. As such, I feel it’s only right to have this review be in parts as well. There’s just so much to cover. Lizzie’s […]
