Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

It’s important to note that I’m sitting down to write my review of The Mime Order roughly three weeks after finishing the book. The reason for this is quite simply that I was stunned, speechless, and didn’t know how I could possibly convey in words just how amazing this book (and this series) is. How do you do epic perfection justice?? HOWW???? HELP ME, BENNYKINS. OKAY THANK YOU. In the interest of full disclosure, I have met Samantha Shannon and we are Twitter friends. Seriously, she’s a super awesome, amazing, generous person, but I don’t feel like that should invalidate my opinion that I think […]

Audiobook Review: The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson

Audiobook Review: The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson

I put off reading The Crown of Embers for ages because, well, after The Girl of Fire and Thorns, I just wasn’t that enthusiastic or convinced that the series was really something for me. However, I’d heard the audiobooks were pretty good, and with the added benefit of being able to multitask, I figured I should give it a shot. Ultimately, I will say the sequel is far better than the original – but it’s still not my favorite fantasy series ever. I will say that I enjoyed this a great deal as an audiobook, because Jennifer Ikeda is a fantastic narrator. She does great […]

Announcing #ReadTheDUFF!

Announcing #ReadTheDUFF!

Calling all YA readers and fans! As you may know (by the extensive promotion and squealing by yours truly for one), 2015 brings us the book-to-movie adaptation of one of my all time FAVORITE books: Kody Keplinger’s The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend. That book not only has one of my favorite romances ever (I’m all about hate-to-love romance), but it had such a great relatable character growth arc and message, and the writing was on point. It was one of the first contemporary books I ever read, and it totally opened me up to the genre because of how such a realistic story can […]

Audiobook Review: Feed by Mira Grant

Audiobook Review: Feed by Mira Grant

I’ll be the first to admit that zombies are just not my thing. But Feed came into my life when Christina gifted me the box set with the promise that the blogging/politics/Newsroom-like aspects would probably win me over. And, well, they DID. Feed is an incredibly intriguing and realistic political thriller involving a zombie outbreak. Though it’s lengthy, there’s so much to love. I didn’t even have any nightmares! Winning on all fronts! First off, I should note that this review is of the audiobook, which I purchased after running out of time to finish the book in print. But the audiobook is fantastic. The […]

Book Review: My True Love Gave to Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins

Book Review: My True Love Gave to Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins

When I saw just how STUNNING the UK edition of My True Love Gave to Me was, I had to go out and buy a copy. My desire to stroke all the pretty covers ever demanded it. It was the first time I ever read a short story anthology, and for the most part I enjoyed it! As expected, some stories are better than others, and some just don’t get enough depth or space by nature of their shortness. But with the shared holiday theme and my timely reading of it, this was delightful! Midnights by Rainbow Rowell: 5/5 Rowell’s story is all about New […]
