ARC Book Review: Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

ARC Book Review: Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge was an absolutely stellar 2014 debut that soared to the top of my favorites list and never let go. So obviously when I heard about Crimson Bound, my interest was instantly piqued and I became desperate for it. Crimson Bound is a creative and original fantasy, though in my opinion not as great as its predecessor. I had a bit of trouble getting into Crimson Bound, to be honest. I think that’s to blame on two main things. The first being that my expectations were just so damn high after Cruel Beauty was one of my absolute favorite books last […]

Most Wanted: May 2015

Most Wanted: May 2015

April had a shitton of amazing releases, but May is not to be ignored. My unreleased books list for May is GINORMOUS. I want so badly to go and pre-order EVERYTHING. (Hopefully soon enough I’ll have the money to do that.) Here are the titles I’m most excited about. May 5th A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: It has been pre-ordered for ages and cannot get here fast enough. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West: DITTO. Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge: I just read this one, and I really liked it! Such a creative, immersive world… but I did have a […]

ARC Book Review: Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley

ARC Book Review: Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley

As soon as I saw the cover of Magonia, I was convinced I had to read it. I mean, we all know that I’m shallow as fuck when it comes to book covers, but add in that blurb by none other than Neil Gaiman??? Get in my hands now. This book is something completely unexpected. I started out loving it, but was left with quite a few quibbles at the end. I usually do not care at all for comparison pitches, but believe me when I say that “The Fault in Our Stars meets Stardust” is probably the most perfect pitch for Magonia ever. This […]

ARC Book Review: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

ARC Book Review: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

An Ember in the Ashes is easily one of the most hyped up 2015 debuts / releases overall. Ever since it was announced, people have been clamoring for the book – excited by this “Gladiator style” high stakes middle eastern-inspired fantasy. So, obviously, this book had a lot to live up to. Fellow bloggers who read this before me have been excitedly shouting about its perfection. Unfortunately, it didn’t really work for me. An Ember in the Ashes tells a fantasy story from two points of view: Laia and Elias. Laia is a Scholar – a native resident of the area which has been conquered […]

Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: All the Rage by Courtney Summers

Blog Tour Review + Giveaway: All the Rage by Courtney Summers

I’d never before read a book by Courtney Summers, but I’ve been hearing amazing things about them all the time. So when the opportunity arose to read All the Rage, I figured I should grab it. I was slightly scared of it, because books with such heavy topics are usually far outside my comfort zone. But the subject matter is important, and I wanted to see how this could completely crush my feels. All the Rage is an important and powerful book, for sure. If you missed it in the blurb, All the Rage is about Romy, a rape victim, who is subsequently ostracized in […]

ARC Book Review + GIVEAWAY: Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger

ARC Book Review + GIVEAWAY: Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger

Lying Out Loud seemed to pop up out of nowhere – and after so long without a YA Keplinger novel, you can bet your ass I was EXCITED AS HELL. Then I got the chance to read this as an ARC that was personally signed to me by Kody herself and *DEAD* Lying Out Loud is cute and funny and happymaking and yayyyyy ♥ So Lying Out Loud tells the story of Sonny Ardmore, a compulsive liar, who sort of accidentally ends up catfishing a guy who she slowly realizes she has feelings for. The unfortunate part of that is that (a) the guy, Ryder, […]

Book Review: Last Will and Testament by Dahlia Adler

Book Review: Last Will and Testament by Dahlia Adler

Since meeting Dahlia at BEA last year, I’ve been in awe of her utter awesomeness. (*cough* I’m not a kiss ass. Whatever.) And I’ve been more curious about new adult books in the last year, so when I heard about Last Will and Testament, my interest was piqued. But I was also worried, because WE TALK and stuff and WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE IT OMG THE WORLD WOULD END. I shouldn’t have worried, really. Last Will and Testament is excellent and one of my favorite new adult titles to date. I’ve read quite a few of these NA student-teacher relationship books, but I have […]

Tag: Burn, Rewrite, or Reread?

Tag: Burn, Rewrite, or Reread?

Lyn from Great Imaginations tagged me to do the Burn, Rewrite, or Reread tag/challenge/thing, and that made me SO HAPPY because honestly, this sounds hilarious. Basically, we’re playing kiss/marry/kill but with BOOKS. The rules are as follows: randomly pick three books you’ve read, and then decide which you would burn, rewrite or reread. I’m using Goodreads and a random number generator, but I’m sure you could do it another way if you wanted to. Round One Reread: Faking It by Cora Carmack This was not difficult, because as a matter of fact, I just reread Faking It last week! Seriously, this is one of my […]
