Most Wanted: May 2015

Posted April 29, 2015 by Debby in Most Wanted / 6 Comments

April had a shitton of amazing releases, but May is not to be ignored. My unreleased books list for May is GINORMOUS. I want so badly to go and pre-order EVERYTHING. (Hopefully soon enough I’ll have the money to do that.) Here are the titles I’m most excited about.

May 5th

A Court of Thorns and Roses The Fill-In Boyfriend

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: It has been pre-ordered for ages and cannot get here fast enough.

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West: DITTO.

Crimson Bound Summoner-cov

Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge: I just read this one, and I really liked it! Such a creative, immersive world… but I did have a bit more trouble connecting to the characters than I did with Cruel Beauty. I mean my expectations were through the roof, so that’s my bad.

The Novice by Taran Matharu: Ever since I saw this cover, I was like HELL YES. It sounds like my kinda fantasy. And it’s such a massive Wattpad hit, that I’m expecting a Sarah J. Maas kind of awesomeness. (No pressure though.)

May 12th

The Wrath and the Dawn All Played Out End of Days

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh: I have heard the most amazing things about this one and just can’t wait. Uber-diverse plus an amazing shippppp? GIMME.

All Played Out by Cora Carmack: DUH, IT’S CORA CARMACK. But also, this is supposed to be the super funny bantery one in the series (so far) soooooo I need it.

End of Days by Susan Ee: I really don’t know if I’m ready for this series to end – especially since it was supposed to be a 5 book series before. *cries* I’m going to do a full series reread.

The Fangirl's Guide to the Galaxy Love Fortunes and Other Disasters

The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy by Sam Maggs: This book is SO PRETTY, seriously. Beautiful illustrations, formatting, and the hardcover sans dust jacket is STUNNING. Anyway, I’m ready to get my nerd on.

Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius: I’ve been reading a ton of fantasy lately so I’m REALLY looking forward to what I expect to be a motherload of cuteness. People fighting against their love fortunes? PLEASE BE ADORABLE.

May 19th

Nimona LionHeart_US_005 Made You Up

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson: I have heard the most amazing things about this webcomic, but I have purposefully held off on reading it online and downloading the e-galley so that I can enjoy it as a beautiful finished book. SOON.

Lion Heart by A.C. Gaughen: THIS SERIES IS ENDING. I FEAR FOR MY FEELS. Sooooooooon.

Made You Up by Francesca Zappia: I’ve been waiting on this for ages, but I’m so excited! A schizophrenic MC? I’m ready for the twisty goodness. I don’t know that I’ve read a book with an unreliable MC quite like that before.

Illusionarium Uprooted

Illusionarium by Heather Dixon: STEAMPUNK. I WANT STEAMPUNK. I hope this is good – I’ve heard mixed things so far. But it looks pretty.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik: This book came out of nowhere, but then everyone started *raving* about it. Well I love my fairy tales and hate-to-love romance, so I’m game!

Which May releases are you most excited for?

Ahhhhh!!! Not to be one of those people drawing out the hype machine (but I am absolutely one of those people right now-sorry!) but you are going to LOVE Uprooted. It’s so, so, so good. I think your mileage may vary a liiiiiitle bit depending on how much you like jerk boys since The Dragon is a jerk to Agnieszca in the beginning of the book. But I don’t like jerk boys at all (never!) and I still adored their relationship. Perfect transition from hate to grudging respect to friendship to love. Between this and ACOTAR we have such steamy fantasy in May! Plus, I can never not like a book that has a bloodthirsty forest. The only sad thing about Uprooted is that it’s a standalone.

    • Haha, no worries, it was mostly your GR review of Uprooted that made me go !!! GET ON MY LIST NOW. I can deal with jerk boys if there’s a good, gradual transition, and it sounds like this nailed it ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m excited!

  2. I am reading Crimson Bound right now and I get what you mean. I love it and it’s amazing, but I miss the spark I had with Cruel Beauty. The wrath and the dawn, YES PLEASE. And I’m also really excited for End of days. It’s going to be brutal. Nimona was good, I want to read it as paper version too. LION HEART. THE FEELINGS.

Did you enter my Uprooted giveaway? ๐Ÿ™‚ I also can’t wait to read it!

This month is going to be horrible on the wallet-last month was too. Since there are no movie theaters in the town I recently moved too and I’ll be missing The Avengers till I can rent it on prime, I’m going to just go with it though.

A Court of Thorns and Roses: Wasn’t really a fan of her Throne of Glass series (or at least the first one, I hear they get better), but I enjoyed the first five chapters that I read of this from the Amazon preview. And I sort of just gush over anything Beauty and the Beast centric if done halfway decently.

The Fill In Boyfriend: Looks really cute. Been feeling contemporaries lately too.

Crimson Bound: Oh, please be at least half as good as Cruel Beauty.

The Wrath and the Dawn: Excited about this one. The feedbacks been excellent and I’ve been obsessed with Scheherazade since I played the piece in high school orchestra.
