Blog Tour: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy by Sam Maggs

Blog Tour: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy by Sam Maggs

I’m super excited today to be a part of the blog tour for The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy! Filled with fierceness, fandom, and feminism, this book serves as a great introduction into what it means to be a fangirl – and why we should all be proud to be one. If you want to learn more about this book, check out my review, the book trailer, and the AWESOME pre-order campaign. (Last chance! The book comes out tomorrow!) Book Review: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy by Sam Maggs

Book Review: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy by Sam Maggs

I don’t read a lot of non-fiction, but Quirk Books always manages to convince me to check out their titles anyway. When The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy was announced, I knew I had to have this book. As a proud fangirl, this book would obviously validate my identity and provide me with giggle-worthy pop culture references. This book was certainly fun, but just a bit too basic for me. The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy serves as an introduction to the fangirl lifestyle. It covers everything from the biggest fandoms, to fangirl speak, to fanfiction, to social media and dealing with trolls, to conventions […]

Book Haul #22: For Which I Am Forever Grateful

Book Haul #22: For Which I Am Forever Grateful

Hi lovely readers! Yes, it’s time for a book haul, but no, I am not doing a vlog. In fact, for the time being, I’m stopping vlogging. To be perfectly honest, the past few vlogs I’ve put up have gotten almost no interest, no comments – and they take SO long to make. There’s so much preparation, brainstorming, editing, so if it gets little response, it doesn’t seem worth it. Anyway, April was an epic release month, so even though I wasn’t really supposed to buy books, I had a bunch of pre-orders come in. But I also struck giveaway gold, I swear, and I […]

ARC Book Review: Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

ARC Book Review: Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

When I head about Love Fortunes and Other Disasters, three main things convinced me to pick it up: that adorable illustrated cover, the fun and quirky premise, and the promise of a hate-to-love romance. For all intents and purposes, this should have been the perfect book for me. But somehow, it ended up being something completely different. Love Fortunes and Other Disasters tells the tale of the town called Grimbaud, where love fortunes, charms, and hints of magic are real. These love fortunes are seen as binding, so when a group of high schoolers gets less than optimal fortunes, they decide to fight back and […]

Ten Books I Will (Probably) Never Read

Ten Books I Will (Probably) Never Read

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. Though I have an extensive TBR list, the list of books I won’t read is about just as long, probably. Now, some of these picks will be obvious, but some may surprise you. 1. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James (and its sequels) Duh? Okay, at some point I might have considered reading this for lols, still trying desperately to understand the fascination, but at our book club sleepover last weekend, we watched the movie (for the same reasons) and me reading this book would […]

ARC Book Review: The Novice by Taran Matharu

ARC Book Review: The Novice by Taran Matharu

When I first heard about The Novice, with its stunning cover and Wattpad origins, I immediately had high hopes. “This could potentially be the next Throne of Glass series,” my brain screamed, excitedly. After reading it, I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say all that, but The Novice is entertaining for sure, and a series I can’t wait to continue. The world of The Novice is like a creative blend of Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, and Pokemon. That might SOUND odd, but I swear it makes perfect sense if you read the book. Like LOTR, the races of men, […]

Monthly Wrap-Up: April 2015

Monthly Wrap-Up: April 2015

April 2015: in which I binged a loooot of TV Month 1 of unemployment is complete! Hopefully it won’t be much longer. Unemployed life is as follows: stress eating, reward eating, and clinging to sitcoms to try to cheer up. As such, I was a bit demotivated about reading and blogging, and I’m swamped by review copies. No 5 orange reads this month. No bueno. April Reads Books Read: Chase Me by Tessa Bailey Leaving Amarillo by Caisey Quinn Definitely, Maybe in Love by Ophelia London Suddenly Royal by Nicole Chase Faking It by Cora Carmack (reread) William Shakespeare’s The Phantom of Menace by Ian […]
