Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far In 2015

Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far In 2015

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. We’re already halfway through 2015?? Are you serious? But – this means it’s time to look back on all the books I’ve read so far, all 65 of them, and happily I can say that I’ve read some amazing books. Here are my favorites so far. 1. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: YEP. Flawless Oreo-filled happiness. Last week, when I asked on Twitter which book last made people wholeheartedly and unabashedly happy, like 4 people said Simon. FOR GOOD REASON. If you […]

Most Wanted: July 2015

Most Wanted: July 2015

Time flies, and we’re approaching the end of June already. But, this means July is around the corner with lots more exciting book releases to look forward to! Here are my most anticipated titles. July 7th Jesse’s Girl by Miranda Kenneally: NEW MIRANDA KENNEALLY. This is like the third post in two weeks where I’m raving about how excited I am. DON’T MIND ME. William Shakespeare’s The Clone Army Attacketh by Ian Doescher: You know I adore this series. It is known. Episode II isn’t my favorite, but I’m reeeeally curious how they’ll show Anakin’s character progression. That’s one of my favorite things in the […]

Book Review: The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

Book Review: The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

Ugh. *moan* *sigh* Oh boy. The Kiss of Deception came out last year to a generally positive reception – in fact, plenty of my closest blogging friends clamored about it as being one of the best new YA fantasy series out there. I am baffled, because I do not understand at all. This book was boring as hell. Honestly, I should have paid more attention to what this book was about than all of the positive reactions it had gotten. The title conveniently has the word ‘Kiss’ in it, and the premise already introduces the fact that there are two handsome strangers who enter the […]

The State of the Blog

The State of the Blog

Hello folks! Welcome to my State of the Blog Address. (I’m so incredibly original, it kills me.) I have always run this blog with 100% honesty, and that’s why today I wanted to let you all know about some changes that will be happening on the blog as soon as next week, and why I believe they are necessary. Hopefully, you’ll understand where I’m coming from, and this will let us all move on to happier blogging times. I’ve been blogging actively here since October of 2012 – more than two and a half years. And in that time a lot of things have changed […]

Book Review: The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

Book Review: The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street came pitched to me as “for fans of Samantha Shannon” and came with a blurb by Shannon herself. That definitely caught my attention, but when I heard about what the rest of the book would contain (clairvoyance, Victorian London, Japan, and a heavy focus on characterization), I knew I had to check this book out for sure. This adult historical fiction is something completely different and very imaginative. I definitely enjoyed it. In The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, Thaniel Steepleton, a synesthete telegraphist at the Home Office, narrowly escapes the Fenian bombings in 1884 thanks to an intricate and mysterious […]

Book Review: The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

Book Review: The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

Kasie West is one of my absolute all-time favorite authors, as anyone who has read my blog probably knows. I will pre-order all of her books from now until the end of time, and read them almost as soon as they enter my hands. Such was the case with The Fill-In Boyfriend, which wasn’t only promising me excellent romantic fluff, but also one of my favorite tropes of all time: fake dating. This book is fluffy, awesome, and filled with meaningful character growth. The Fill-In Boyfriend tells the story of Gia, who is dumped… at prom. This was going to be the first time her […]

A Fitting Ending or a Cliché Disappointment?

A Fitting Ending or a Cliché Disappointment?

One of my goals for 2015 was to finish up more series – and I’ve been doing extremely well, if I do say so myself. So far this year, I’ve finished up 8 series (ahead on my series-per-month goal), and I’ve been catching up on some others that I already started. Basically, things are looking up. However, with reading so many conclusions, a question has been lingering in my mind. Are series that reach a “natural end”… disappointing? Here’s how the story goes: you have, for example, a trilogy. You’ve been heavily invested in it for two books, multiple years, and for the sake of […]

ARC Book Review: Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler

ARC Book Review: Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler

Let it be noted, for the record, that I love Dahlia – who is just a super awesome author person and super fun to talk to. But be that as it may, I wasn’t expecting to fall quite so deeply in love with Under the Lights. This is a wonderfully different and excellently fluffy LGBT book that just filled me with so much happiness. More ladies kissing, forever and always! I started reading Under the Lights when I didn’t quite feel like working on my blog, intending to just take a small break and read, at most, 50 pages or so. Instead, I read more […]
