Book Haul #30: …Wait, Number 30??

Posted January 24, 2016 by Debby in Book Hauls / 5 Comments

I sit here slightly ashamed and mostly uncaring about the fact that I’ve not been posting for basically this entire month. I’ve been sick, busy, lazy, and actually enjoying my PS4 and new TV. 2016 is turning out to be about listening to myself and what I really want to do and not getting bothered with blogger guilt. But I’m not dying or closing down the blog just yet. No worries.

Anyway, I have gotten some books in the past month and I thought at the VERY least I could spend a little time talking about them. 🙂 Can you believe this is my 30th book haul though? Damn I’ve been doing this for a long time.

Purchased

2016-01 01

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas: Can you believe I didn’t own this and I haven’t actually read it yet? Yeahhh… Will be fixing that soon.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: Obvious pre-order for obvious reasons, now *hides from hype monsters*

Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira: I had a review copy of this and just adored it so much that I couldn’t help but pre-order my own copy. It is super adorbs.

Spinning Thorns by Anna Sheehan: I admit I’m curious about this although I wasn’t completely wowed by this author’s other Sleeping Beauty retelling, A Long, Long Sleep. But it’s our book club pick for next month, so I’m def gonna find out if I have better luck with this one soon! The cover is super pretty either way.

From Mel:

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
: As soon as I knew Mel was my Secret Santa, I knew I’d be getting this book, lololol. But that’s PERFECT. I’ve been meaning to get to this series though the hype scares me. But this book is beautiful and I’m excited to give it a shot!

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows: This is also one of Mel’s favorite books, so I should have expected it. But YEAH, this book is raved about all the time, so I’m super excited. Thank you Mel ♥♥♥

From Kasie West (and Mel):

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
: Further evidence that Mel is the best Secret Santa of all time. She reached out to one of my absolute favorite authors, trying to get a signed bookmark for me, and Kasie was like, “Sure, I know Debby, I’ll send a signed book instead!” UMM. UMM. I am forever dead. And I will treasure this book until the end of time.

From Paula Stokes:

German edition of The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
: Okay, Paula is the most amazingggg. She sent me such a lovely package with review copies (see below) of her 2016 books, this German edition, chocolate, and FREAKING OREOSSSSSSSS. You are the best, Paula. Thank you foreverrrrrrrr ♥

From Dad:

The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
: Late Christmas gift! I’ve never read anything by this author, but it seems like that’s something that should be fixed as soon as humanly possible. This is the series I’ve heard the most awesome things about, so I can’t wait! 🙂

For Review

2016-01 03

Vicarious by Paula Stokes: EEE. I read this one already as a beta reader, but I’m excited to revisit it and see how its evolved 🙂 It was already awesome the first time around, so srsly guys, look out for this this year. And my name in the acknowledgments because Paula likes to make me cry.

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes: I have not read this one yet but I am excited!!! The premise is awesome and I got a sneak peek at the first couple chapters so I know I will have feels. And I’m in the acknowledgments again so I am twice dead.

Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas: Words cannot describe how much I adored A Wicked Thing last year. It’s so underrated, because the characterization was so flawless and I just can’t wait to get back into the story and see the part where Aurora starts kicking ass. When Christina told me this was on Edelweiss, I RAN to my computer. No lie.

  1. I hope you enjoy The Assassin’s Blade, I started the series by this one and absolutely loved thought would like to see how is the reaction to someone that already knows some parts of these stories. You ought to read The Raven Boys this series, such a great series, forget the hype and just read it, you’ll love it. I read the first Alanna book last year and it was… Good, but very middle grade-y and short, hope to continue with this series this year.
