Month: February 2016

Most Wanted: March 2016

Most Wanted: March 2016

March already? Oh man. February was a busy whirlwind. But new month means new books, and there are some here that I’ve been waiting for for MONTHS. So YAY YAY YAY 🙂 March 1st A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro: I just finished reading this and it’s DELIGHTFUL. It’s not quite at the same level as the Every series by Ellie Marney, but female Sherlock + male Watson? Very cool. And I shipped it. Blood Passage by Heather Demetrios: Definitely the most skeptical of my picks here, but I liked the first book! It’s been ages though. I might wait for some reviews on […]

ARC Book Review: Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas

ARC Book Review: Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas

If we haven’t spoken in a year, you may not have noticed the intense love I’ve been consistently proclaiming for A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas. But boy. I love that book. It’s so thoughtful and unique – and though there wasn’t a lot of action, I was completely swept up in the main character and her voice. Well now it’s finally here: the sequel. And it was definitely enjoyable. The end of A Wicked Thing left me with great hopes for the next phase of the story: with Aurora free from the restraints of the royal family and her magic quickly growing more potent […]

2015 Favorites

2015 Favorites

Here we are – my final 2015 wrap up post: my non-bookish favorites. I did this same post last year and I just enjoy making these lists so much, I figured I’d do it again. There’s more to my life than just books, after all. 🙂 Top 10 TV Series of 2015 As always, I watch a lot of series. I also spent quite some time binging series in 2015 – and I didn’t start as many new series… But this is the list of the top 10 series that rocked my world in 2015 – some old, some new. The Newsroom: Rewatched at least […]

Book Haul #31: In Which I Complete My Collections

Book Haul #31: In Which I Complete My Collections

Another month, another few books to add to my shelf. Yadda, yadda, yadda. You know how this goes. Purchased Stars Above by Marissa Meyer: Umm, yeah, The Lunar Chronicles is one of my all-time favorite series. So obviously I had to buy this, to complete my TLC shelf. I actually read all of the online novellas a while back – which I usually never do for any series – but I do still need to read the epilogue. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine: This book got insanely good hype back when it was released last year – though only from a couple bloggers. For […]

2015 Reading Statistics

2015 Reading Statistics

I know I’m royally late in wrapping up 2015, but better late than never right? A week or so ago, I shared my 2015 End of Year Book Survey, but now it’s time for the numbers. You know how I like to get nerdy about my reading. The following charts and graphs were made using my yearbook spreadsheet – and if you’re interested, I did this analysis for 2014 last year here! General Statistics Last year, I read a lot more (128), but this year there was job hunting and actual adulting to be done, so it makes sense that it’s less. I’ve also had […]

ARC Book Review: The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

ARC Book Review: The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

Time travel. Those are magic words to me. Words to which I perk up and think, “OH YES PLEASE.” Throw in some pirate-y shenanigans and how on earth was I supposed to resist this book? Well, maybe I’ll take more care in the future. The Girl from Everywhere wasn’t exactly what I was hoping it would be. The Girl from Everywhere tells the story of Nix, a sixteen-year-old girl on a ship that travels through time. Her father, the captain, is trying to find his way back to her mother in Hawaii, 1868, but to get there he needs to get the right map… which […]

ARC Book Review: Call Me, Maybe by Ellie Cahill

ARC Book Review: Call Me, Maybe by Ellie Cahill

When Joss Met Matt remains one of my absolute favorite new adult books of all time. So, yeah, when I heard Ellie Cahill was coming out with another book, I was practically jumping for joy. (Some air kicks may have been done when I received a review copy.) But anyway, long story short, Call Me, Maybe delivered a few giggles and swoons but did not live up to my (admittedly high) expectations. Call Me, Maybe starts off STRONG. Clementine and Justin accidentally switch phones at an airport and keep in contact until they’re both back home to switch them back. That first part of their […]

2015 End of Year Book Survey

I know, I know. It’s FEBRUARY, Debby, why are you just now reflecting on 2015? Well, January was a mess, blogging-wise. But I love doing this annual survey, created by the lovely Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner, so I decided it was better late than never. In fact, in the coming weeks, you’ll see another couple posts reflecting on 2015, so get ready for that! In case you’re interested, you can see previous editions of this survey here on the blog: 2013 and 2014. 2015 Reading Stats Number of books you read: 109 (First: Feed by Mira Grant; Last: The Deal by Elle Kennedy) Number […]
