Book Haul #32: Which… Oops.

Posted March 19, 2016 by Debby in Book Hauls / 4 Comments

You know how I’ve been doing really well with not buying or otherwise receiving that many books? Yeah. Oops. March has been a bit… different. *cough* So enjoy this while it lasts, Debby, but you’re back on a book buying ban now.

Purchased

2016-03 01

A Tyranny of Petticoats, edited by Jessica Spotswood: I don’t often read anthologies but the title and premise of this one are just TOO AWESOME to pass up. So awesome that I had it pre-ordered as a matter of fact. Seriously. Belles, bank robbers & other badass girls. I am here for that.

Maid-sama!, volume 5 & 6 by Fujiwara Hiro: Yep, still collecting this, one of my top 3 mangas of all time, as it is released. Move along.

A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab: Obvious purchase for obvious reasons? I mean, I’d already read it, but I needed the finished copy. Sadly, it did not go on any further than my bound manuscript did. *sobs*

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro: Also a review copy that I’d already read, but yeah, I enjoyed this modern YA Sherlock SO MUCH that I needed to have the hard copy in my life. I expect I’ll be rereading it before the sequel comes out, so I can take a trip back to feelsville.

First & Then by Emma Mills: I’ve been whining and moaning about how badly I wanted this book ever since it was released basically, but after I didn’t get it for Christmas (*sobs*) the price finally went down on Amazon and NOW IT IS MINE, THE PRECIOUS. MUWAHAHA. I will read this cuteness soon. Because Pride and Prejudice meets Friday Night Lights? Hell. Yes.

Christina spoiled me once again… ♥♥♥

These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas: I’ve been skeptical about Swoon Reads since their books seem to fail for me more often than not. But EVERYONE loved this one. And apparently it’s shippy and feelsy and awesome? Basically I knew Christina would force this down my readerly throat at some point and I WAS RIGHT xD

Written in Red by Anne Bishop: This was the only big surprise in the package, but that’s because I don’t really dooo shifters… But I also don’t do zombies and Christina got me liking Feed, so I’m gonna trust that she knows what she’s doing. She raves about this ALL THE TIME anyway.

The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman: HELL YEAH. I’ve been looking forward to this for quite a while. I didn’t quite pre-order it because I wasn’t completely sure it would be a success, but then Christina loved it so I put it on my wishlist anyway. I loved Eon though the sequel disappointed me in certain ways, but I am definitely excited to read more from this author.

The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett: When Christina ever so subtly asked whether my address was still correct, I knew I’d be getting this book. I mean, she was like intensely flailing about it the week before, and our taste for fluffies is like 100% aligned. So HELL YEAH. I’m hoping to get around to reading this soooooon.

For Review

Right of First Refusal Some Kind of Happiness

Right of First Refusal by Dahlia Adler: I read this this week and I must say, I am so impressed with the character arcs and the strong female friendships in this!!! I did not have the most shippy feels, because this doesn’t really use Debby tropes, but I dun care. I like this hot and engrossing sports romance anyway.

Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand: I seriously adore Claire but I have yet to read her books!! But when I heard about this one, tackling anxiety in a middle grade book, I was incredibly intrigued. I can’t wait to read it 🙂 (I can’t believe I got approved, omg.)

  2. OMG OMG OMG Written in Red is so awesome, and it was a genre/subject matter I usually dodge around! I picked it for Forgotten Fridays, and all of us just ended up falling in love with it. It is an awesome book! Above all else, it is a character-driven novel, and it is wonderful.

I bought Study in Charlotte because you seemed to enjoy it so much, and now I am really intrigued by it! I want to pick it up next.
