Book Haul #38: The Birthday Edition

Posted September 17, 2016 by Debby in Books

Okay, so my birthday was almost a month ago, but it fell just after my last book haul. So now… this is a pretty big haul. Bigger than the last two hauls COMBINED. Yep. Oh well. I just have the best friends ever β™₯ *hugs books*

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: I got this one from the lovely Mel β™₯ and I am SO HAPPY because it was very very high on my wishlist, and I do want to read everything Matson’s ever written. Saving this for a rainy day… which will likely be pretty soon. (Also, I will treasure the Captain America orange foreverrrr.)

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: And now I have every Matson book πŸ˜€ This one was from Daph – THANK YOU DEAREST. This seems to be the most serious/emotional/heartbreaking one, but I still desperately want to read it because Matson plays with my emotions in the best possible way.

The Only Thing Worse Than Me is You by Lily Anderson: We have reached the Christina portion of this haul, because, as always, Christina loves to spoil me. But she does it in the best way. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. I’ve heard it’s super cute and fluffy and that cover is awesome and YES I want the geeky cuteness now.

Shuffle, Repeat by Jen Klein: MORE FOR MY FLUFF STOCKPILE YES. But seriously this one sounds mega cute.

The Fourth Wish by Lindsay Ribar: It figures Christina would include this because now I can finally stop dragging my feet about reading this sequel. I mean I loved the first book, so I don’t know what’s wrong with me. No more excuses. I have this book now. I should read it soon.

Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare: LOLOLOL. Christina’s been on a total historical romance binge lately, and it just figures that she’d do this. I am curious – I have never read historical romance before. But Christina and I align for like 99% on ships, so I’m pretty sure as soon as I start this book, the floodgates will open and I will be addicted as well.

Vicarious by Paula Stokes: OF COURSE. I mean I already read this – twice, actually – and I have a signed, personalized ARC, but 1. It’s Paula, so duh. 2. The book is really good. 3. Obvi I needed the published hardcover that has my full name in the acknowledgments. Obvi.

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi: A NEW TAHEREH MAFI BOOK. I’ve been hearing the most wonderful things about this book, but even if I hadn’t, I’ve had it pre-ordered for ages. I am very much excited πŸ™‚ We’ll be reading it for book club in October!

Kingdom of Ashes by Rhiannon Thomas: An overdue purchase, but since I’d already read an eARC, I wanted to wait till the price went down on Amazon, and it did, so voila. I really love this series, guys. I mean, the first was better than the second, but still.

Adulthood is a Myth: A “Sarah’s Scribbles” Collection by Sarah Andersen: I got addicted to this webcomic through Facebook, and when I saw she had a book out, I was like YES DO BUY. It’s barely over a hundred pages and it’s almost entirely what’s already online, but I don’t even care. This comic is so me. I just like having something physical to shove in people’s faces now. Like, “THIS IS ME. DO YOU GET IT NOW?”

Maid-sama!, volume 9 & 10 by Fujiwara Hiro: Instabuy for obvious reasons. Still one of my all time favorite mangas.

For Review

The Cat King of Havana by Tom Crosshill: I went through Edelweiss quickly and found this book… and downloaded it solely because I’m going to Cuba in November and desperately wanted to get a bit of inspiration / an idea of what I’m getting myself into. Definitely an interesting book, but not one I would have picked up if it didn’t have this setting.
