ARC Book Review: This Is My Brain on Boys by Sarah Strohmeyer

My fond memories of Sarah Strohmeyer’s Smart Girls Get What They Want were immediately evoked when I heard her newest title: This Is My Brain on Boys. Nerdy cute contemporaries are my jam, you might say. But whereas her debut novel was charming, fun, and practically perfect, this book was… not. Uh oh. The premise of this book sure was a promising one. You have a main character who doesn’t believe in love. She wants to research the biological aspect of it though, with a theory that any two people can fall in love if they’re put into high risk, high stress situations. Heck, she […]

ARC Book Review: The Secrets of Lily Graves by Sarah Strohmeyer

ARC Book Review: The Secrets of Lily Graves by Sarah Strohmeyer

I absolutely LOVED Sarah Strohmeyer’s Smart Girls Get What They Want and I liked How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True, so when The Secrets of Lily Graves appeared, I just KNEW I had to read it – regardless of the fact that this was not a fluffy romance but a mystery. Sadly, Strohmeyer’s foray into a new genre didn’t work too well for me. Lily Graves is a murder mystery. Lily’s classmate Erin is found dead. Book Review: How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer

I picked up How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True because (1) I was in need of some wonderful fluff, and (2) I loved Smart Girls Get What They Want so hard. Sarah Strohmeyer really knows how to get you giggly and relaxed, but ultimately this one never really reached the “amazing” level. How Zoe tells the story of Zoe, a high school girl, who is slowly recovering from the loss of her mother, and decides to spend the summer interning at a Fairyland Kingdom theme park. She quickly becomes selected to be the personal assistant of the “Queen” – the head boss. She’s […]

Book Review: Smart Girls Get What They Want by Sarah Strohmeyer

By the title alone, I knew that Smart Girls Get What They Want, hereafter referred to as Smart Girls, because I can’t be bothered, would be a great book for me. I was the uber nerdy girl in high school, and I’m proud of that, to an extent. But I do wish that us smart girls would get some more credit. Studying isn’t all we do. Right away, what I love about Smart Girls, is the main character, Gigi. Obviously, I could relate to her in a big way. But I really loved her narrations and the sarcastic humor and snark that shines through. Honestly, […]
