Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Book Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is a charming, quick, light read for when you’re in that contemporary kind of mood. You can very easily read it in one sitting to cleanse the palate. Obviously, looking at the title, this book is really romance-centric. Oliver is so absolutely charming. The dialogue between him and Hadley is really pleasant and adorable. There were some super touching moments, and my heart melted just a bit at the end. And I mean, I read the whole thing picturing Oliver as this guy, adorable accent included. How can you go wrong? Julian Morris Overall there’s not much […]

Book Review: Just One Day by Gayle Forman

Book Review: Just One Day by Gayle Forman

This is my first adventure with Gayle Forman but I absolutely loved it and will be checking out her other books really, really soon. It’s just a beautiful literal and figurative story of finding yourself and finding love. It pulled at my heartstrings constantly, made me laugh, giggle, flail, and produce some tears. And this from one who usually doesn’t really do contemporary. Part 1: One Day The book starts off with Allyson and Willem’s one glorious and beautiful day in Paris. Now, being Dutch, but having lived in the US for 10 years (and just getting back from a visit this week) this book […]

Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I’m not going to give this book a long review because (a) it doesn’t need it, and (b) no amount of words I type would do it justice. Just know that you should read this book. It’s on so many lists as one of the top books of 2012 and it aptly deserves it. Reading The Fault in Our Stars is a difficult decision to make, in a way. With all that is written and said about it, you know in advance that there is a love story there that is too beautiful for words, but the inevitability of the plot ensures that tears will […]

Book Review: Tempting the Best Man by J. Lynn

Book Review: Tempting the Best Man by J. Lynn

I’m just going to give this a quick review, instead of what I had been thinking of not reviewing it at all. Exams next week, lol. I laugh in the face of exams. So. Tempting the Best Man. Light erotica. “Are you really reading erotica???” Whatever, haters gon hate. Honestly, so many people have read 50 Shades, I won’t feel ashamed for this. So J. Lynn is the pen name of Jennifer L. Armentrout, which is what incited my curiosity for this book. My obsession with the Lux series knows no bounds, really. But anyway, the romance she had written in the Lux series was […]

Book Review: The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

Book Review: The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

Now I’ll be the first to admit that by simply reading the premise, I don’t think this is a book I would normally pick up. It’s not that it’s completely out of my comfort zone or something, but it’s definitely J.K. Rowling’s name on the cover that got me so excited. Harry Potter changed my life, like much of my generation, but if I had to name one thing about that series that blew me away it would be the writing. I absolutely love Rowling’s style, the way she creates a world and develops her characters. To me, it’s a flawless writing style that since […]

Book Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Book Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

So I had been hearing about this book for ages, really. Almost two years and I just now got around to finally reading it. Considering what I had heard (not much about the story, but the emotions people had about it) I had pretty high expectations, but the book exceeded my wildest dreams. I cried. I seriously, seriously cried for almost the last quarter of the book. That honestly has never happened before. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten this emotional about a book. But it was crying in the best possible way, because it’s so uplifting. I just have to write this review now […]
