Book Review: The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore

Book Review: The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore

I dunno guys. I dunno. I’m not really sure why I’m still reading this series. I loved I Am Number Four, but The Power of Six was almost the most disappointing sequel imaginable. In this installment, we focus on two main storylines: Four and Nine in America, torn between the urge to confront Setrakus Ra and saving Sam, Sarah, and Six; and Six, Seven, and Ten as they meet up with Eight. Yeah, I think I’m more comfortable with referring to them by their numbers than their “names”. Anyway. At a certain point Six splits off from her group, so we have three POVs ruling […]

Book Review: Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Book Review: Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

This was an interesting one. It came quite highly recommended, I believe one of the most highly anticipated YA Dystopias of the year. But I’m a bit torn, hence my rating. There were things I liked, things I didn’t like, things I thought could have benefited from more elaboration, but ultimately I think it’s a good set up for a series. Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

I just finished reading Insurgent yesterday… And I don’t really know what to think about it. SPOILER ALERT, because I honestly can’t review this without spoiling stuff. It was just plain disappointing to me. Which is sad because I thought the first book was close to perfect. The world building, all the details and the analysis of the factions, the pros and cons of all the dominant personality traits… Action packed, with a romantic story that did not take the spotlight but was an absolutely a nice bonus. Most of all, it was a story that kept me interested the whole time, dying to figure […]

Book Review: The Selection by Kiera Cass

Book Review: The Selection by Kiera Cass

I decided to check out The Selection by Kiera Cass, in the week of its release. I have to admit, what really grabbed me was the cover. It’s just so, so, so pretty. ‘They’ call it “The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor” but I really don’t like that tagline. It’s not really like THG, no one dies, there is no huge dystopian rebellion. This is just what I call my guilty pleasure type book. Prince Maxon, I think, is amazing and adorable. After finishing reading it, I found out that they’ve shot a pilot for a TV series for the CW based on the book. […]
