My 10 Most Recent 5 Star Reads

My 10 Most Recent 5 Star Reads

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. I don’t give out 5 stars that often. No, it surprises even me to see at the end of the year that I’ll probably have given the honor to only 10 or 12 books (of the 100+). I can be critical. Too critical, maybe. But that means that these 10 books are that much more special. And I don’t think I could summarize my love into 50 words or so per book, so I’m just going to link you to the reviews. Yes, I am lazy […]

Top Ten (Okay, Eleven) Best Books I Read in 2015

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here. I’m simultaneously excited and super anxious about making this list because WAIT SINCE WHEN IS 2015 ALMOST OVER? I’m coming to you a little later this Tuesday to shout about amazefabulous books you definitely should (have) read. 1. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: Yeah, I pretty much called it the minute I finished this book, but it is unquestionably on top of this list. But – this means it’s time to look back on all the books I’ve read so far, all 65 of them, and happily I can say that I’ve read some amazing books. Here are my favorites so far. 1. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: YEP. Flawless Oreo-filled happiness. Wow. Just wow. I loved Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph, so my expectations for Mortal Heart were understandably high. But it met them. Exceptionally well. This is one of the best series conclusions I have ever read, and the series as a whole has forever gained a place on my favorites shelf. Mortal Heart tells Annith’s story. Annith is quite different from Ismae and Sybella. She’s more innocent and sheltered, mostly because of the convent’s refusal to send her out on a mission. She’s a super hard worker though and has gained skills beyond any of the other novitiates. As such, she’s desperate to prove […]
