Top Ten Favorite Book Covers of Books on my TBR

While I was making last week’s TTT, I quickly started making sad faces at certain books that I couldn’t include because I hadn’t read them yet. So I figured, for this week’s freebie, why not honor them all the same? I had such a great time coming up with this list. Fun fact: I quickly narrowed it down to my top ten but then couldn’t decide on the order. I ended up numbering them from 10 to 1, and thus figured out which one was really my favorite. πŸ™‚

1. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West

The more I was narrowing down this list to my top favorites, the more I kept looking at this one and realizing that I love EVERYTHING about it: the typography, the dress, the heels, the lens flare, the colors… EVERYTHING. And knowing how much I loved Kasie’s writing in Pivot Point… Just give me this! NOW.

2. The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

This cover is amazing!!! I don’t freaking care that it’s more middle grade. The colors, the illustrations, the awesome crest… this is a cover that demands that I pick it up. And every time I look at it, I’m reminded of the awesome book trailer. I really need to read this ASAP.

3. For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund

I’ve been ogling this cover for SO LONG. Over a year. Really weird that I still haven’t read it, but that cover is amazing. I love the stars and how it blends with the dress. And that typography! YES.

4. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

This was book on my list before the cover was even revealed, due to its amazing synopsis. Then it was posted and… WHOA. I’m already in love with this couple. I love the green dress. And space, again, definitely my thing.

5. Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

Yes I fall for the pretty dresses, I think we’ve established that. But there are the clichΓ© cover dresses, and then the OMG GIMME IT dresses. Ruby Red looks incredible. I love that dress, and London in the background. I really want to read this.

6. Tumble & Fall by Alexandra Coutts

I got rejected for this on NetGalley last week and that hurts. The blurb alone already caught my attention, but this cover!! It’s beautiful, with the sparkles and the beautiful &… I want this!

7. Golden by Jessi Kirby

This is a pretty funny one because the cover image alone, like this, isn’t that amazing. But then Cassie took a picture of what it looked like in real life. I want this!! It has such warm, bright colors and the spine is beautiful.

8. Graceling by Kristin Cashore

While this book had been on my TBR list for a while, the cover wasn’t particularly amazing. Then last week, at Nitzan’s TTT I came across this other cover for it. WHOA. This book just achieved a new level of bad-ass, and it’s definitely higher on the priority list now.

9. Entwined by Heather Dixon

One last pretty dress for me to rave about. Considering this is a fairy tale like book, I feel like the cover fits PERFECTLY. I love the volume, the colors, the castle in the background. And I’ve heard the book is great too, so I must read it!

10. What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang

While most books that make it on my “pretty cover” shelf on Goodreads have big bold colors and designs, I love this one just the same. I love the softer colors. I love that light pink accent. It looks so modern and sleek. And the two faces, that’s pretty darn awesome too.

20 Covers Across Two TTTs… What Have We Learned?

    • Kasie West gets the pretty cover award, for sure!
    • I’m a sucker for the pretty dresses, yes, but I REGRET NOTHING.
    • Purple and blue are my favorite colors and it shows in my cover choices.
    • A well-placed lens flare totally works for me.
    • Great typography is such a turn on.

Let’s Talk!

So… what do you think of these pretties? Which cover elements do you fall for?
And, have you read any of these? What can I expect?

Let me know in the comments!

  1. Aww man, I hope all of these are good though. I have no idea! EEP.

Hahaha, I'm glad you agree! School For Good and Evil I want to read ASAP and mostly because of that awesome cover. So that'll be coming up soon, hihihi.

  2. Haha, that cover for Graceling is the reason I read the book (and it's amazing so I'm sooo thankful). The original cover never attracted my attention, even though the synopsis did. Then I found this cover at the book store and *bam* had to get it. Started the book the same day and finished it the next xD

I love the These Broken Stars and For Darkness Shows the Stars covers. They are soooo pretty! Definitely the kind of covers that make me buy the book just so I can showcase them on my shelves xD I also love the Distance Between Us.
The School for Good and Evil is a really interesting cover. I don't particularly like the drawing of the characters, but I do like everything else. I especially like the placements – the dark character is actually at the place where the white castle is and vice verse.

As usual, great covers! (and thanks for linking to my post! You're the best <3)

  3. Haha, well I have a few more review books to get through and stuff but I definitely hope I can get to Graceling this summer. Definitely more motivated now πŸ˜€

I know right? I want These Broken Stars and For Darkness Shows the Stars so badly so that I can have them on my shelves. We'll have to see when I have the funds for that, hihihi.

Aww thank you πŸ™‚ and of course! Giving credit where credit is due πŸ™‚

Not only do these books have awesome covers, they are also books I am waiting (impatiently) for!
I'm ridiculously excited for all of these. Good luck on finding a co-blogger, I put out a form awhile ago and found a perfect person. I hope you find one too!

  5. I find that a lot of contempory novels are getting covers like the one for "The Distance Between Us" which is fine by mean because I can't help loving them! Also, "The School for Good and Evil" has an amazing book trailer, it was just sooo pretty!
By the way, read "Golden" as soon as possible, I read it, and I absolutely loved it. I did not expect to like it that much!

  6. So many covers do have figures with dresses on these days πŸ˜› I feel like I'm missing something until I look at the Graceling cover & am swept away. That tells you a lot. Though I wouldn't say it's the most aesthetically pleasing one for me over both the TTT's. That's definitely Ink as it looks so artistic!
For once I’m actually participating in TTT! But I already knew I’d only be able to list 3 so the second ‘T’ isn’t ten I’m afraid on the meaning of reviews πŸ˜‰ That’s what I decided to do though- it’s a free net. Wait, yikes! That doesn’t go down too well in the “making sense” criteria. Feel free to stop by @ my TTT all the same πŸ˜›

  7. Purple and blue are definitely the superior colours. I approve. I looooooove the cover of The Distance Between Us. It's so warm and summery and I WANT IT. Why isn't it out already? The two faces on the cover of What's Left of Me, although the side facing one looks masculine to me, and I wish it didn't. They're meant to be two sisters *cries*

  8. Alice in Readerland

Fun topic, I love so many of these covers! My favorites are The Distance Between Us, For Darkness Shows the Stars, These Broken Stars, and Golden, they are all so pretty! Plus, I love the Clara/Oswin gif you used (I used a Doctor Who gif in my TTT post this week too)! πŸ™‚ My TTT is Fictional Places I’d Love to Vacation:

Ooh, these are good! The School of Good & Evil is adorable, and I love Golden and What's Left of Me. Plus, extra points for including Clara!! Nice list!

I love that you did another awesome covers list – my vote goes towards The School of Good and Evil. Great list!

  11. Haha, glad I'm not alone! I just want to drool over these covers. *sigh* Thank you! It's not particularly urgent, so I'm going to take my time and make sure it's the right person, but I hope I'll find someone soon πŸ™‚

  12. Yeah, maybe these awesome new style of contemporary covers will get me to pick the books up more often, hahaha.

Yes, Golden is very high on my TBR list, so that should happen soon πŸ™‚

  13. I'm so sad that Graceling cover isn't the standard cover – I think it would have a lot more people picking it up that way. So awesome!

Haha, there are no strict rules for the TTT, so I"m sure that's fine πŸ™‚ I'll go take a look!

  14. Yes, I want to try to read Darkness somewhere in the next two weeks πŸ™‚ I've been seeing really positive reviews for it lately and now it's just like… enough is enough, haha. TDBU is my love I MUST HAVE IT πŸ™

  15. Haha YESSSSSSSS. We are so bookish twins. ♥ Hmm, I didn't really think the second face was masculine, but… I guess I could tell why you'd think that. I think the second has bangs or something, and that gets in the way? *shrug* I still think it's awesomeee.

  16. Hahah, I will never get tired of using Clara gifs xD you will find them a lot on my blog. She is just too perfect. πŸ™‚ Glad you love these covers too!

  17. I love your picks! I am such a sucker for cover typography. There are definitely a few books I've given a shot for that alone. I think that's part of the reason I originally put For The Darkness Shows The Stars on my TBR list (where it has remained, maybe I should get around to reading that…) I love the alternate Graceling cover! Where did you find it and can I trade in my copy?. Finally, I totally recommend Entwined if you like fairy tale retellings, it's a lovely book with a surprising amount of hilarious dialogue. Surprising because I don't generally expect to laugh out loud when reading fairy-tales.

  18. Aww you made me totally excited to read Entwined! πŸ™‚ I have heard good things about it indeed. I should get on that soon. And I'm the same with For Darkness Shows The Stars. I have seen more positive reviews from it lately though so hopefully that'll get me to pick it up for real. Graceling, yeah, found that on someone else's TTT last week. Apparently it's the UK edition. I know which edition I'm buying, hahaha.

  19. Judith

So many of these are incredible <3 I love What's Left of Me (so unique! And the colors are gorgeous), For Darkness Shows the Stars, These Broken Stars, The Distance Between Us, The School for Good & Evil…. Tumble & Fall is a new favorite, that one is STUNNING. And Golden is really pretty IRL πŸ™‚

  20. Heeeeeeeeee I'm so glad we agree on these πŸ˜€ I'm so excited. After making this post I ordered The School for Good & Evil and Golden. I should get them next week. I can't wait to see them both IRL πŸ˜€
