I actually thought this list was pretty hard! Looking back, most of the series in the past TWO years that I’ve been really interested in, I’ve started. Most of the series I’m hoping to catch up on soon are older than that. But oh well, I still found 10 series that I’m super excited to get started on, and hopefully I can start catching up on them soon!

Maid of Secrets Venom The Darkest Minds

1. The Maids of Honor series by Jennifer McGowan
I just came across this series recently, and I’m so confused how it escaped my notice all this time! Seriously, this sounds like it was made for me: court, pretty dresses, political intrigue, romance… I want it so badly asdfjkl; I will probably be buying this soon.

2. The Secrets of the Eternal Rose series by Fiona Paul a.k.a. Paula Stokes
Second verse, same as the first! But with the added bonus of Paula Stokes, who knows how to put in the swoons. This is going to be our November book club book, so it is DEFINITELY happening soon, and I am way excited.

3. The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken
This series is super hyped, so I just gotta know. I keep seeing people rave about it, and I’ve had it on my shelves for a while now, so it’s about time.

To-All-the-Boys-Ive-Loved-Before The Kiss of Deception Dissonance

4. The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han
Aghhhh I want it!!! Ever since Gillian raved about it, it’s been very high on my to-buy-next list. I just want the fluff and the swoons and whatever else this has in store. Soooooon.

5. The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson
I’ve heard so many good things about The Kiss of Deception but I haven’t gotten around to picking it up yet because (a) crazy review book pile, (b) book buying ban due to unemployment, (c) absolutely not in the mood for fantasy. With the colder weather and review books finally clearing up, maybe I’ll finally be in the mood for this. 🙂

6. The Dissonance series by Erica O’Rourke
Parallel woooorlds. I want. This is obvious.

Rebel Belle Alienated Dark Star The Cuckoo's Calling

7. The Rebel Belle series by Rachel Hawkins
It’s sad that what convinced me most of my need to read this series is its covers. THEY’RE SO CUTE THOUGH. And I’ve heard they’re refreshing easy reads. I’ve been meaning to check out Rachel Hawkins for a while, but I’m torn on where to start. Likely the pretty covers will make Rebel Belle win out.

8. The Alienated series by Melissa Landers
I let you guys make up my mind to read this series on a TTT a few weeks back, though I shamefully have not gotten around to buying it yet. I will. With my first paycheck. And then I will get on this. 🙂 I’ve heard it’s super cute!

9. The Dark Star series by Bethany Frenette
Christina has me convinced that I’ll like this series and the ship in particular. Considering we have like a 95% agreement rate on ships, I needs must obey.

10. The Coroman Strike series by Robert Galbraith a.k.a. J.K. Rowling
Obvi? I got the second book in the series for my birthday, so I do need to get around to finally reading these. I am resolved to read all of J.K. Rowling’s books ever, so. I need to catch up.

That’s it! Have you read any of these series?
Where should I start?

  1. You should start right with The Darkest Minds 😛 I wasn’t sold on the first book but the second one was fantastic. Granted I don’t exactly have a pristine memory of what happened right now (which will probably bit me in the backside when the third book is out next week) I do remember that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  2. Oooh, you need to read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! It’s such a cute story 🙂 The ending definitely left a lot open and I’m so curious to see what’s going to happen in the sequel. Definitely a book I needed yesterday.

  3. Dark Star, yes all the way! I read the first book and really liked it, plan on getting the second for Christmas and then getting the third right away, it’s such a GOOD book. Darkest Minds I’m wary of, but there’s a lot of hype, so maybe, maybe not.. Good luck though Debby, and congratulations on your new job! 😀

  4. Is The Darkest Minds series middle grade or YA? I got the impression it was aimed at much younger people.

I recommend starting with the Cormoran Strike books 🙂 I loved The Cuckoo’s Calling. I can’t wait to get my hands on The Kiss of Deception!

  5. I definitely think you should read The Kiss of Deception. There’s a lot of flirting and swoons and banter, which I know you love. And the world-building is amazing – I have theories.

I absolutely adoooooore the cover for Rebel Belle. The only reason I haven’t read that yet is I’m just waiting for more books to come out to see if readers like where it goes.

  6. The maids of honors series also has pretty covers. I’m not sure what it is, but they scream ‘BUY ME.’ The girl with the knife looks so fierce and I love the sound of the books too.
I’m very excited for Venom! I’ve been wanting to read the book for a while, but I just needed that extra push.
I loved Hex Hall, so I’ve been meaning to check out Rebel Belle. So many books, so little time.. (and money)

  7. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was one of my absolute favorite reads this summer. I’ve loaned it out to so many friends that I honestly don’t even know where it is anymore – which is fine with me, since I have a copy for my Kindle as well. I highly, highly recommend it!
I also love the Cormoran Strike series. I loved loved loved the Harry Potter series of course (because I have a heart and a brain and all the other things that make a human being), but I never read The Casual Vacancy, so I don’t know how it would compare.

  8. The Darkest Minds!!!! You’re lucky because the last book is about to come out so you can binge read. LOVE THIS SERIES.

To All the Boys…one of the cutest books I’ve read. Warning: a contemporary with a cliffhanger ending. WHAT???

Kiss of Deception…LOVED THIS BOOK TO PIECES!!!

Dissonance…I’m a parallel world book fan so I’m biased, but I LOVED THIS BOOK. I was halfway through reading it on my Kindle and I knew I had to have it in hardback so I ordered it before I even finished. Obsessed with this book.

  9. Maid of Secrets is fantastic!! So is the sequel Maid of Deception, I wrote a review for it recently. Really great historical fiction with awesome characters and the right amount of swoon and action.

I’m curious about Venom and The Darkest Minds too!

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was very good! Swoony, and fluff with substance. Lara Jean’s voice was younger than I expected at first but you get used to her. I really liked the characters and can’t wait for the conclusion. And I started Kiss of Deception recently! I heard such good hype I had to put it away for a few months for it to die down 🙂 One chapter in and I’m liking it a LOT.

Dark Star!!!! I read it based solely on Christina’s review and was so glad I did. Hadn’t heard of it before. And the ship is a very good ship 😀 I wish more people read this series, it’s really fun.

  10. Oh gosh, the MAIDS OF HONOR series has been my #1 new choice to push on people lately. IT’S SO GOOD. The first book is…. and then the second book is so DIFFERENT and yet completely… Ugh. I wish the internet allowed hand gestures and overexaggerated facial expressions.
