Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their OWN Book

This is a meme from The Broke and the Bookish. For info about the topics and how to participate, click here.

I’m not gonna lie, this was a really hard topic for me! It took quite some time with my thinking cap on, quite some head scratching, and even now I’m not sure I’m 100% satisfied with my list. See, oftentimes when there is an awesome secondary character, those characters get novellas! Or if there’s a secondary character I LOVE, I haven’t finished the series yet, so I’m not sure about their fate. Seriously, my brain needs to stop with this perfectionism because it’s ridiculous. This list is just for fun. So here we go.

1. Rowan from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Rowan is everything, and I want to know everything about him. His back story in more detail? Yes please. Just adventures of Rowan being awesome? Yes please. Anything Rowan.

2. Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
My love for Thorne knows no bounds. I know that Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky exists but I want a full novel and I want just tons of swashbuckling adventures with Thorne. It would be magnificent.

3. Kenji from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Kenji is made of absolute awesome, but one thing is missing for him: a soulmate! I want him to have a happy ending too, so I’d love to see an adventure post-Ignite Me where Kenji finds someone. The humor alone would be worth it. Think of all the lols!

4. Dee from Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
I believe I even said in my review that, though I liked the book, I would have liked it better from Dee’s perspective. She’s such an awesome down-to-earth country star – I’d love to see more of her and how she handles all that pressure.

5. Beckie from One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva
Beckie is so snarky and fantastic – I would love to see more of her – potentially a romance for her? That would be cool. It would be Banterfluff II. Waaaaaaant.

the art of lainey

6. Bianca from The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
Bianca was such an awesome BFF for Lainey and she made me smile and giggle, so I want to see mooooooore.

7. Warden from The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
I just read The Mime Order and I just I just I can’t get enough of this world and Warden and asdfjkl; A novel from his perspective would be awesome – showing us more about the Rephaim, the previous rebellion, the Netherworld… just moooooore. Please.

8. Reagan from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Reagan is snarky and fantastic. I want to read more books set in college, and reading from her perspective would be epic and probably very relatable.

9. Gale from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

10. Christian from Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

  1. I COMPLETELY agree with you about Gale. Not only did I love him waaaay more than Peeta, but more than that I HATED how Katniss cast him aside and basically shunned him for his participation and dedication to the rebel efforts (I mean this is a WAR in a DYSTOPIAN society). I thought Gale was a really strong character who was willing to stand up for a greater good (not to mention how he’s always been there for Katniss…)

Anyway rant over, haha! Christian is a great choice as well!

    • It was so unfair to hold him personally responsible for the bombs at the end of Mockingjay. That was just ridiculous. *sigh* I’m always going to be bitter about that ending. It’s the lamest way to end a love triangle. She basically settled for Peeta because Gale was branded a murderer. =/ I have a lot of FEELINGS about this and they are very not happy, so I’ll just stop there.

  2. I agree with every single one of your picks! Especially Rowan! He is everything and I just need more, much more about him (I realize I sound like a deranged fangirl here haha). And Kenjij…and Thorne… and Warden… and all your other picks. But mostly Rowan.

  3. I completely agree about Kenji! If he had a book…ohhh, I would not stop laughing. He is like the LIFE of that entire series. Although I am partial to the adorable messed up little psycho that is Warner. I have to admit I don’t really care what happened to Gale. >_< MY BAD. But Finnick or Johanna or Peet? Or, omg, Effie. OKAY SCRAP THAT. I would read a book from anyone’s perspective. Even Gale. Even Snow. o.O Like how did he get so evil?
    Here’s my TTT!

  4. YES!! I’d love to read a book from Kenji’s perspective sooooo much!! And I wouldn’t be adverse to hearing about Rowan’s adventures before he met Celaena either!!

    • Thorne was the first I thought of basically, hahaha. Everyone loves him, so he’s been on a lot of TTTs this week, understandably. Dee was soooooo much better than Reagan, seriously. I still liked the book, but Reagan pissed me off just enough to where I was like, “Ehh, can I has more Dee plz?” x_x

  5. Gale made my list, too.

I’m glad I stopped after I read Unearthly. I read synopses of the other books online. I’m really glad I didn’t bother actually reading the books; I would’ve been so mad!

    • The story of Unearthly was really good – I’m mostly just bitter about the way the love triangle went. But overall it’s still a great series. Then again, I’m partial to angel paranormal romances, so IDK might just be me xD

      • You completely missed the part where I got this email and I was indeed laughing at your fail and I thought you were psychic so I subtweeted about you on Twitter. YOU DISAPPOINT ME CHRISTINA. Apparently not so psychic after all xD

    • Hahaha, I feel you. Those series should just expand foreverrrrrr to have glorious universes and books from everyone’s PoVs and just adfjkl; err no pressure, authors. *cough*

    • I really loved that series, but the ending was just CRUEL. I’m not sure I can reread it because of that. *sigh* It’ll be like Gale and Mockingjay – every time I read it, my love for Christian will grow and my hatred for the ending will too. =/

    • ALWAYS TEAM GALE. Though I would have been fine with her picking Peeta so long as, you know, Gale wasn’t written off like he was. If she had picked Peeta over Gale in his BEST shape, it could say something meaningful about her and Peeta’s shared history and trying to recover together… but it was just lame the way it turned out. She pretty much settled for Peeta because Gale was made a non-option. Laaaaame.

(Though, srsly, TEAM GALE. I will never be over those glorious kisses.)
