This year, I’ve added quite a few NEW favorite authors to my list, so I’m suuuuper excited about this topic 🙂 These authors are all amazingggg and you should all read all of their books plzkthnxbai.

1. Cora Carmack
This year, Cora Carmack is my queen. My obsession with her should be more than obvious, because I read all of her books to date this year, including her two novellas (which normally I neverrrr read). That would be Losing It, Faking It, Finding It, Keeping Her, Seeking Her, All Lined Up, and All Broke Down. Finally I found a new adult author that totally works for me. Cora brings the swooniest of swoons while also showing the character growth and real new adult issues that I love. They’re not overly melodramatic or dark either, like most NA. They’re just WONDERFUL. I cannot recommend her enough.

2. Miranda Kenneally
Like Cora, this one I have Christina to thank for. Not only did she give me four of the books, but she’s been really adamant about how amazing her books are, and she’s so right. Miranda brings more swoony swoons and also creates the most wonderfully realistic characters. I read all of her books this year: Catching Jordan, Stealing Parker, Things I Can’t Forget, Racing Savannah, and Breathe, Annie, Breathe. And I’m sure I’ll read all of her books to come. Impossible not to like. A new auto-buy author for sure for sure ♥

3. Liz Czukas
This 2014 debut author has quickly grown into one of my absolute FAVORITES. Not only are her YA releases fun and bantery and wonderful (Ask Again Later and Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless), but I also read her NA debut coming out next year (When Joss Met Matt – review this Thursday!) and I CANNOT EVEN with how perfect that book was. This woman is the new queen of banter and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next 🙂
4. Paula Stokes
I discovered Paula this year – or, well, the more accurate statement would be that she discovered me – when she asked me to review The Art of Lainey. I love that book like ASFDJKL:. The ship is freaking brilliant, and the characters are so bantery and wonderful, and it’s just asdfjkl; one of my favorite books of the year for sure. I also read Venom, her debut novel under the pen name Fiona Paul, and though I didn’t like it quite as much, the woman has serious skill in creating characters. (I also got a sneak peek of the first twenty pages of her 2016 book Vicarious and you guyssssssssss, you need to keep an eye out for that!)

5. Sharon Biggs Waller
A Mad, Wicked Folly is to date probably still my favorite book of the year. So so beautifully written, with such a great romance, setting, characters, and message… I love every inch of that book and I CANNOT wait to see what this author comes out with next!
6. Rosamund Hodge
Another 2014 debut author, Rosamund Hodge blew me away with Cruel Beauty. It was such a creative blend of Beauty and the Beast and Greek mythology – two of my faaaaaaavorite things. The romance was SO AMAZING TOO. Seriously, this is an author to watch out for.
7. Elizabeth May
The Falconer is BLOODY BRILLIANT. Such a creative mix of fantasy and steampunk, with a KICK ASS main character and THAT SHIP and THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING. Oh my god, I loved every second of this book and I’m such an impatient little brat for the sequel.

8. George R.R. Martin
I finally did it this year! Granted I only read A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings, but I did it and they were SO GOOD. I get intimidated by huge epic fantasy series, but these are so well-written, and that world is AMAZING. I need to make time to read the other three.
9. Heidi Schulz
Hook’s Revenge is flawless perfection. I had a smile from ear to ear for the entire freaking book. The writing in particular was perfect. Even if this author only ever writes middle grade books, I will be picking them up. It’s just plain FUN.
10. Victoria Schwab
Everyone’s been raving about V. Schwab for years, but I was spectacularly ignorant. Gaby made me read The Archived and well, everyone was right. It was creative, exciting, and the characters are suuuuper awesome. I need to read her other books ASAP. Don’t know what I’m waiting on, frankly. [Update: Sooo after writing this post I started reading The Unbound, and to no one’s surprise, it’s amazing.]
I confess I’ve read none of these new authors to you, though I hope to read Catching Jordan. Amazing list. Check out my TTT@Head Full of Books
I’m ashamed to say I haven’t discovered many of the authors on your list, but most are certainly on my radar to read ASAP! I’ve heard great things about The Kiss of Deception!
I love the Catching Jordan series, but am woefully behind. I’m about to read my first Hodge novel. I have high expectations.
here’s mine
I also have a $30 gift certicate to Amazon giveaway, so check that out if you want.
Victoria Schwab is fabulous. I read both The Archived and The Unbound this year. I also bough Vicious, though I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. Her writing is sibling amazing – I “found” her this year too.
Props for reading George R.R. Martin, too! I tried reading the first book in the series but it was very similar to the HBO show, go figure, and I had a hard time getting into it. Wikipedia articles count though, right?
I’m very intrigued with Breathe, Annie, Breathe. I must look out for that one.
I’d love to have you stop by and take a look atmy list!
Wow, I haven’t read ANY of these authors. I keep meaning to start Game of Thrones, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. One of these days I will!
Liz Czukas is just amazing, right! I haven’t read her NA book, but I loved her two YA books. And I love Cora Carmack, too. I still need to read something by Miranda Kenneally, though.
Great list! I’m like you; when I discover a great new-to-me author, I often end up binge-reading their entire backlist. Here’s my TTT. Happy reading!
Thanks to you I also go to meet a new favorite author, because I still can’t get over the fact how adorable Hook’s revenge was <3 Cruel beauty is amazing, I'm so excited for Crimson bound and I hope it's just as good. I hope I get A mad wicked folly soon, but otherwise I'll buy it myself in January.
EEEE MORE HOOK’S REVENGE LOVE. ♥♥♥♥
Oh man, Crimson Bound asdfjkl; I will probably be sneaking that in way ahead of the pub date. Whateverrrrr.
Maybeeeeeee you’ll get AMWF for Secret Santa. Haha. But we shall seeeeee won’t we?
I love George R.R. Martin so much -the wait for Winds of Winter has been too long already. I really want to read The Archived and Cruel Beauty, they look very interesting and I’ve heard amazing things about them.
Great list!
From your list I have read George R. R. Martin and V.E Schwab. I have had Cora Carmack and Miranda Kenneally on my radar for awhile now just have never got around to reading their books yet. 🙂
Some great authors you’ve discovered this year. Hopefully, 2015 will be just as good!
I have my best friend to thank for Kenneally’s books too! She bought me Breathe, Annie, Breathe, since I was being such a snob about it (horrible idea – need to stop doing that), and I ended up falling in love! I just bought two of the books, and I’m hoping to get the other two in a few weeks so I can binge them all in one go.
Right, when Miranda Kenneally was recced to me before I thought it was just going to be more sappy teenage romance, but it’s SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. I can’t stop recommending her to EVERYONE.
The only one I’ve read from your list is Miranda Kenneally BUT I LOVE HER so it’s ok. 🙂 I own books by Cora, Paula, Sharon, and Rosamund, so there should be NO excuse. I must rectify this soon! Great list!!
Doooooooo. Omg, if you love Miranda Kenneally, you will definitely love Cora Carmack, which is basically just as awesome but twice as hot 🙂 And those others. EEE. I hope you get to them soon 🙂
Oooh… A Mad Wicked Folly looks good. I think I’m a sucker for girl in pretty ballgown on front cover. Gets me every time. 🙂
The dress is what drew me in, but the story is SO MUCH MORE than that 🙂 It’s feminist, wonderful, romantic, and amazingly written. I hope you check it out and enjoy it!
Dammit. I see so many books on here I own, but I haven’t touched yet. Why can’t I just call in for a month and catch up on reading? 🙁
Hahaha, that’s basically how I feel. Like this list is for you, I have a list of 20 others. *sigh* It never ends.
