2014 Favorites

Posted February 4, 2015 by Debby in Lifestyle

I know this is like SUPER late, but hey, I moved in January and blogging did not make the priorities list. I did sum up my favorite books of 2014 in a broad range of categories in my 2014 End of Year Book Survey, but there are a lot of other things that I LOVED in 2014, so I thought I would share those with you quickly! πŸ™‚

TV series

I watch a LOT of series. There are so many that I follow on a weekly basis, and I binge watch others in between and wow. Cutting down this list was extremely hard – especially because so many series fluctuate from season to season in terms of quality (looking at you Doctor Who, Suits, Orphan Black) and asdfjkl; BUT OKAY. Here are the 10 series that rocked my world the most in 2014.

The Newsroom Sherlock Game of Thrones Nashville Agents of SHIELD

  1. The Newsroom: It’s over and I will never be okay.
  2. Sherlock: YEAH SEASON 3 WAS IN 2014. Those seasons are way too short though.
  3. Game of Thrones: Scarred for life by season 4 episode 8.
  4. Nashville: This series is dramallamaville, but I am completely addicted.
  5. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: PHIL COULSONNNN. (Though I’m liking Agent Carter EVEN MORE.)
  6. The 100: *hides from screamy fangirls*
  7. The Blacklist: Binged the first season in like a weekend. Ummm YEAH it’s good.
  8. Outlander: Jamieeeeeeeee.
  9. Melissa and Joey: Sitcoms are a must in my life. This one just beat out Ground Floor for the top 10.
  10. Eureka: All those father-daughter feels and sci-fi lols. Highly underrated.
The 100 The Blacklist Outlander Melissa and Joey Eureka

I’m not a *big* movie watcher, and I barely saw any 2014 releases, but this list is compiled of the best movies I watched for the first time in 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy Mockingjay Part 1 Frozen

  1. Guardians of the Galaxy
  2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
  3. Frozen
  4. The Avengers
  5. Iron Man / Iron Man 2 / Iron Man 3
  6. Clueless
  7. Captain America: The First Avenger / Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  8. Thor / Thor: The Dark World
  9. She’s the Man
  10. Rise of the Guardians
(I was very behind on the Marvel Universe *cough* my bad.)

I think what we can gather from this list is that my taste in music is impossible to describe. “Good”? I like GOOD music. …kthnxbai.

YouTube Channels

I spend more time on YouTube than is probably good for me. But I actually do not watch any BookTube – I’m on YouTube for vloggers, original webseries, and foooooooooooood. These are my favorite channels/series that I discovered this year, with the exception of SORTED Food, but that is just my everlasting YouTube love, so deal with it.

1. SORTED Food
2. Emma Approved by Pemberly Digital
3. Tyrannosauruslexxx
4. Good Mythical Morning
5. Sex+

  1. I clicked on Sortedfood and I saw chocolate, chocolate and chocolate recipes *hungry* I also spend too much time on Youtube looking at all kinds of different channels. I really like EmmymadeinJapan. People send her food from all over the world and she is very good at describing taste/smell. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzqbfYjQmf9nLQPMxVgPhiA I like SecretLifeOfaBioNerd: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKvvTLZppbz7As-RyG-ha-Q and Clothesencounters https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgWfS_47YPVbKx5EK4FLm4A

Shield and Outlander are two series I want to get started in. OH, you were right about Agent Carter. I was confused, but she wasn’t in Thor.

  2. This is so cute and awesome!! I am about to strap in and catch up on Sherlock, and sis wants to join me as well when i do. Now that she has seen Benedict acting behind the scenes in The Hobbit, she is really keen about starting the series.

    • Yessssss more Sherlock forever and always. I totally need to do a rewatch. I guess it’s nice that that wouldn’t take up so much time since there aren’t that many episodes xD

  3. I don’t get to watch many television shows but The Blacklist is the one I’ve steadily watched since it first began. It’s so good! I actually commented on a different blog the other day about how I’ve never been a James Spader fan, but he’s really good in this show. I think this is his best role ever. I also noticed you saw Clueless for the first time. Isn’t it great? It was so well done as a modern rendition of Austen’s, Emma, yet stands just fine on its own. Jeremy Northam will forever be my favorite Knightley.
