A TBR is a mysterious thing. Ever growing despite all of my attempts to trim it down. Seriously, I read so much in March that I was SO CLOSE to finally getting that Goodreads shelf to under 500 but then… yeah, my latest book haul happened. Oops. Anyway, here are 10 books I discovered recently and added to my TBR – and to mix it up a bit, half of the list will be unreleased books and half will be backlist books 🙂

Recent Backlist Discoveries

Chase Me Romancing the Duke Decked with Holly The Circle Emma

1. Chase Me by Tessa Bailey: I’ve been reading a TON of New Adult books this month, so I’ve been trying to find more titles of the kind I would like (you know, not too angsty/dramatic). This one came highly recommended by Cora Carmack – it was her favorite NA she read last year and she said it’s HILARIOUS. That sounds like exactly what I want.

2. Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare: During my NA binge, I was talking with Christina about how I want to try historical romance at some point for more swoony swoons. She followed that with about TEN THOUSAND SUGGESTIONS, because obvi, and this one is at the top of my list. Probably. I think.

3. Decked with Holly by Marni Bates: I *think* this was a GR recommendation, but it sounds sooo cute! Fake dating AND celebrity romance. TWO OF MY FAVORITE TROPES. Maybe I’ll read this around Christmas this year.

4. The Circle by Sara Bergmark Elfgren and Mats Strandberg: Samantha Shannon has been raving about this series for AGES, but particularly this tumblr post made me finally go OKAY FINE YES I NEED THIS.

5. Manga Classics: Emma by Stacy King: I’ve been meaning to check out these manga classics for ages because (a) I love manga, and (b) they keep doing the classics I love most!!! I MEAN, EMMA?!?!? I needs.

Unreleased Discoveries

A Thousand Nights Dreamstrider A Matter of Heart The Next Together Calvin

1. A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston: “A high fantasy fusion where Scheherazade tangles with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” = gimmeeeeeeeeeeeee.

2. Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith: Spying. On. Dreams. That. Cover. Must. Has. Now.

3. A Matter of Heart by Amy Fellner Dominy: I’m not *entirely* convinced by this one, and I will likely wait for some reviews first, because deadly heart condition? Not typically my thing. But she’s a SWIMMER, on track for the Olympic trials. Competitive swimming is very much my thing. We shall see.

4. The Next Together by Lauren James: One of the surprising things that I actually love is the concept of reincarnation. So this – teens born again and fall in love each time but end up separated? I AM VERY CURIOUS and also THAT COVER IS VERY GORGEOUS.

5. Calvin by Martine Leavitt: I’m sooooo curious to read a book about a schizophrenic MC, but this one!! The kid believes his life is linked to Calvin & Hobbes!! OMG please be amazing.

  1. Terrific list.

You should also try out Kate Noble, if you like Kate Rorick’s the secret diary of Lizzie Bennet because they are the SAME person.

I just have so much squeals available for the Calvin book. IT’S HOBBES!

  2. If I had seen that cover of A Thousand Nights that *definitely* would have been on my list. That is SO beautiful!

I see Decked With Holly on my library’s overdrive site all the time, and I keep meaning to check it out as it gets closer to Christmas, but then the holidays inevitably get busy and I always forget about it. I hope you like it when you read it! It sounds like a very Debby book. 😀

  3. I cannot wait to read A Thousand Nights! It sounds awesome 🙂 AND OMG YES WANT DREAMSTRIDER!!! I hadn’t heard of it before but EXCITEMENT!
Also, I’d recommend Tessa Dare’s Any Duchess Will Do to start with, because it’s got more banter 😉

  4. How have I not heard of A Thousand Nights before?? I NEED IT LIKE AIR.

A Matter of Heart is one I’m also keeping my eye on; I hope there’s a full synopsis soon! Or early reviews… or something. It’s released in June, so it should be pretty soon I hope!

  5. Romancing the Duke is amazing! I think that’s a great starting off point for historical romance. Actually, Amanda from On a Book Bender, Jennifer from Feminist Fairy Tale Reviews, Renee from Addicted to Romance and myself have a fun thing planned for April called Historical Romance 101. You might find some interesting suggestions there. I could talk about historical romance all day!

And Decked with Holly is super cute. Have you read Awkward by Marni Bates? I really liked that as well.

  6. Great list! The Circle is one that I’ve seen around a bit but I’ve not really heard any reviews on it yet. Witch books are always great though! Dream Strider sounds very interesting. I Just heard about it for the first time today. 🙂
    Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian

  7. Ooh, Emma looks so pretty! I need to check out all of these manga classics. <3 Especially since they did Les Mis and Les Mis is my favorite musical of all time. Though it's a 'bit' different from the book. 🙂

A Thousand Nights! YES<3 That cover is so so so gorgeous. Dreamstrider sounds so interesting. And like you said, that cover.
