The Taylor Swift Book Tag, created by The Book Life, pairs book titles to Taylor Swift’s songs. I saw it go around a bunch of blogs a while back, and it looked like SO MUCH FUN, so I put it on my list to get around to sometime even though nobody had actually tagged me. Psh rules!
We Are Never Ever Getting Back TogetherA Book/Series That I Was Pretty Sure I Was In Love With, But Then Wanted To Break Up With
Divergent was one of the first books I picked up after I finished reading The Hunger Games, and at the time, I loved it. It was action packed, the romance was still good, and I was just less experienced tbqh. By the time I read Insurgent I realized the series was a total train wreck. I still read Allegiant, but mostly just to know the ending. Then I sold my copies of the books. BYE BYE SEE YOU NEVER.
RedA Book With A Red Cover
Ruby Red, obviously. Super fun series with a feelsy ship. (Though, the movie is better imo.)
The Best DayA Book That Makes Me Feel Nostalgic
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is not only just super adorable and wonderfully diverse, but it absolutely filled me with so many nostalgia feels. I mean, not for the whole “being closeted” storyline, but Albertalli perfectly captures the high school setting: the friendships, the insecurities, and particularly the drama club shenanigans.
Love StoryA Book With Forbidden Love
I don’t always get along with forbidden love, because quite often they can resort to the most painfully melodramatic tropes… but Last Will and Testament basically got it perfectly right. Yeah, he’s her TA, but their relationship is slow burn and so wonderfully built up. It’s not just sexual tension from the start. So yeah. Loved it!
I Knew You Were TroubleA Book With A Bad Character I Couldn’t Help But Love
Cole from Everneath is obviously bad news from the very start. But the chemistry between him and Nikki was intense throughout the whole series, and he had his moments where he seemed genuine. He’s just a fascinating character.
InnocentA Book That Someone Ruined The Ending For
Yep, Shadow Kiss was ruined for me. The highlight of that entire series. *sigh* That may have helped my apathy about the whole series.
Everything Has ChangedA Book With A Character Who Goes Through Extensive Character Development
It does take the whole series, but Juliette from Shatter Me grows SO much. At the start she’s mentally unstable, weak, and terrified, but by Ignite Me she gains confidence and strength and takes charge of her life. That character arc is what keeps this as one of my favorite series.
You Belong With MeMost Anticipated Book Release
I could talk all day about all the sequels in my favorite series that are coming out this year, but I figured it would be better to showcase something new. Illuminae is pretty much guaranteed to be a VERY BIG DEAL. It sounds so unique, and Random House is going all out to promote it. Now I’m just going to bury my head in the sand so the hype won’t get to me. PLEASE BE GOOD.
Forever and AlwaysFavorite Book Couple
PERCABETH 5EVER. I recently took to pinning all the Percabeth fanart on Pinterest, and I am a feels puddle.
Come Back, Be HereA Book I Would Least Like To Lend Out
This was hard for me, because as long as I trust the person, I’m open to lending pretty much everything. But I suppose I wouldn’t like On the Merits of Unnaturalness to leave my hands. I mean, there are only like 500 of them in existence, it’s a pamphlet so it’s not that sturdy, it’s a complete stroke of luck and generosity that I even have one, and Samantha Shannon signed it for me. So, like, my fellow Bone Season fans (read: book club) can read it if they come over, buuuut it is staying with me.
Teardrops On My GuitarA Book That Made Me Cry A Lot
Yeah, I don’t cry often at books, but for the last quarter or so of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, I was straight up sobbing. Ugly crying. Tears everywhere. That book, man.
Shake It OffA Book That I Love So Much, I Just Shake Off The Haters!
Yeah, I was quite a positive black sheep for Stitching Snow. A lot of people found it too similar to The Lunar Chronicles, but I honestly didn’t care. It was fun, the characters were fun, the story was cool, and the ship gave me feeeels. ♥
Blank SpaceFavorite Autographed Book
PICKING FAVORITES LIKE THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. I suppose I will go with Stardust, because to even have a signed personalized book by Neil Gaiman is like O______O. (Also “Oh, YOU’RE the Snuggly Orange person!!” – Yeah. That happened.)

Today Was A FairytaleFavorite Retelling
Everyone knows I love The Lunar Chronicles, so I thought I’d spotlight Cruel Beauty which is pretty much a perfect retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with added Greek mythology awesomeness, dark and intense characters, super swoony romance, and beautiful writing. Highly recommended!
