Top Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies or TV Shows

I love my books, books, books, but if you ever read my monthly wrap-ups, you’ve probably noticed that I’m a big movie/TV whore as well. I like storytelling in ALL forms, okay, but particularly for sci-fi and fantasy tales, it’s just so much more exciting to see all the details of the world come to life. ANYWAY. Here are my picks for movies/TV shows I want to see. For most, I would choose movies, because I don’t really trust TV series adaptations to really stay faithful.

The Holy Trinity of DUH

Throne of Glass Cinder The Bone Season

Throne of Glass, The Lunar Chronicles, and The Bone Season

I will not rest until all of these amazing series are brought to the screen. It angers me so much that mediocre YA series keep being adapted while these are not. At least The Bone Season is FINGERS CROSSED happening. But basically: amazing characters, plots, and worlds? Bring me these movies. Now now now.

For the Feels

Made You Up The Art of Lainey Meant to Be

Made You Up by Francesca Zappia: This is the first of probably many appearances by Made You Up on my Top Ten Tuesdays. But this book made me feel intense happiness and intense anguish, and I think it would make for a seriously creative movie. Also THAT SHOCKING MOMENT. I want to see that. Accompanied with heartbreaking music, it could probably have me bawling for days.

The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes: I LIKE MY TEEN ROM COMS OKAY? But The Art of Lainey would pretty much be a perfect one. Fake dating shenanigans, a great friendship, and all of the romantic feels. It would be the perfect summer movie.

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill: High school trip abroad to London? Touring all around one of my favorite places on Earth? And meanwhile falling in love accidentally with a seriously awesome guy and lots of baaaaaaaanter? This would be one of my favorite movies ever.

For the Epicness

allouryesterdays Vicious Pivot Point (2) The Falconer

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill: As a movie, this would be an absolutely action-packed adventure. I mean, time travel for the win. And then THAT story, and those characters, and that ship, and that killer ending? Gimme.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab: Honestly, all of Schwab’s books should be adapted, but I just read Vicious last month, and I just. I just. UNF. I want. It breaks my heart that this is a standalone book because the story was so awesome and intriguing and amazing, and I want so much more time with those characters. My review for this should be up *sometime* this month. (I’m a bit behind. Oops.)

Pivot Point by Kasie West: This one I’m open to having a TV series of, and oddly enough I feel like The CW would do a good job with it (so long as they don’t try to stretch it for ages). People with powers, a twisty turny adventure in parallel timelines? There’s so much potential to make a really unique visual experience.

The Falconer by Elizabeth May: I want more steampunk on my screen, and this would be amazing. Amazing costumes, amazing weapons, amazing creatures, and a badass heroine ready to fight them all? I can’t dwell on how badly I want this or I might just cry.

Which of these would you most like to see on your screen?

  1. Throne of Glass and Cinder are both on my list this week too. I think Throne of Glass would probably work best as a tv show, just because there’s so much going on in the books. (Plus it means there would be even more of it to watch. 😀 ). Ooh, and The Falconer could be such a good film, especially with all the steampunk aspects!

  2. The Holy Trinity of Duh hahah that’s awesome!!! God I would LOVE a Throne of Glass tv show (to get in all the epicness) or a really long LOTR-style movie. And Cinder would be an amaaazing movie!

Omg if The Art of Lainey and Meant to Be were movies I would seriously watch them every day. Omg.

All Our Yesterdays would be so exciting!!!

  3. Throne of Glass, The Lunar Chronicles, and The Bone Season as adaptations would be amazing. They would have to be spot-on with the casting though. No white-washing in the Lunar Chronicles, because that would mess it up. Celaena has to be played by someone who can show vulnerability and strength. But if they would get these three right, hell yes.

Vicious, Pivot point and The falconer have great potential too. Vicious would be the most difficult, I think, and the CW The 100 would probably work out for Pivot Point.

  4. I hadn’t thought of All Our Yesterdays, but it would make a pretty great movie. Its been a while since I read it, but I remember how fast-paced and twisty it was, and talk about ending with a bang!
